It’s the weekend, and what better way to start it than with a pizza party?
As per usual, I prepared Vino’s breakfast and lunch before I dropped him off to school. Truthfully, with Singapore being as safe as it is and Grab being able to track where they are, I could easily just send him off to school by himself.
But I feel like there will be plenty of time for that and not a lot of time of me sending him off, so I’m just enjoying the burden of traveling all the way to his school just to say goodbye to him.
Of course, it also allows me to go outside the house. As I headed back, I decided to stop by the hawker stall nearby before going home.
I got crispy pork and char siew noodles. Actually, I ordered crispy pork and chicken, but between the lady boss teaching her associate and her preparing my order, I guess she forgot that I wanted chicken instead of char siew. It’s still good, so I didn’t complain.
The whole set of my meal cost 6.50SGD, which is relatively cheap in terms of Singapore expenses.
When I got back home, Che was working, so I did some household chores and tried to take a nap. When she wasn’t busy, it felt somehow like a date, but when she’s in a call, I just tried to get some rest.
We had sushi for lunch because somehow, we both craved for it. After lunch, I went to pick up Vino from school. We were heading straight to the Philippine Embassy to get his passport renewed.
For his age, the maximum validity is about five years, and his current one was due to expire on October of this year. With a lot of travels planned out, we need to get his renewal in order or risk him not being eligible to travel by May.
The Philippine Embassy underwent a major renovation, and they just re-opened their doors again. It was my first time in this new version of the PE, and I was impressed. The interiors were great and it was airconditioned all throughout.
We had a seamless process, save for his hair falling down. I forgot my stuff to fix his hair, so I scrambled to get it wet and hoped to keep his hair up for the photo. The photo lady offered a sprayer, which helped a bit.
Desperate, I asked a mom in line if she had a comb. Thankfully, she was nice enough to let me borrow hers for a bit. It was able to do the job and kept Vino’s hair up long enough to get his photo.
Everyone was just so nice while we were there. There was no long lines, unlike the old embassy. I think the seamless process helps, and the mood of everyone is just so good. I’m proud that our embassy is keeping up with Singapore’s signature efficiency.
We got home earlier than I expected, but I had no ingredients to cook, because I didn’t think I would be cooking dinner. We agreed to order pizza. We also opened up a bottle of wine.
It was a light drinking night while we watched Stranger Things until Vino went back to the room. We switched to a different show before we headed off to bed.
The great experience at the Philippine Embassy really set the tone for the night, as we were able to just relax and have fun for a quiet start for the weekend.
