Vino lost his jacket a couple of weeks ago when we rode a bus, and while we accepted the fact that it might be gone, Singapore reminded us just where we are living right now.
After watching a movie, we got on a bus going home from Harbourfront interchange. When we went down, we realized a little too late that we didn’t have Vino’s jacket with us.
Che lodged a report to the bus company, but we never heard back. A week later, I tried to check out Harbourfront interchange if someone turned it over. Unfortunately, it wasn’t there.
We took it as a lesson learned and moved past it. That was, until Friday last week, when someone from St. Michael’s Terraces interchange called me saying that they found the jacket.
It’s not unusual to retrieve items you lost here in Singapore. As long as you remember where you might have lost something, there’s a big chance that you could get it back somehow.
It’s a long way from our house, so after dropping Vino off in school, I decided to head over there and retrieve the jacket. I rode three different bus services and reached the other interchange.
It was a quick verification process, and I got the jacket back. Normally, I’d walk around to see nice places to eat, but in this era of trying to lose weight, I decided to just go home and ride the bus all the way.
After a quick lunch and recharge, I went to pick up Vino from school. I prepared some meatballs for dinner while Vino stayed in the living room. Before I finished, Che sent me a message asking if I wanted to eat at Vivo because she was tired.
The meatballs could be frozen and prepared tomorrow, so I told Vino that we were going out. He usually doesn’t like to leave the house once we’re all settled in, but I told him that it would be best to cheer Che on during this difficult day.
Apart from being tired, she was also emotionally drained, because today was the final day for a lot of people in the office. She had a lot of dinners and lunches saying goodbye to good friends, so I thought we should give her some love and pick her up from the office.
We walked over to Vivo and had dinner at our favorite, Yakiniku Like. When it was just Vino and me, I learned that Vino could finish about 150g of meat here. Since I’m still trying to stay away from red meat as much as possible, I had salad and cooked for Vino.
We walked to the bus stop, but on the way, we found a photobooth. It’s a bit expensive, but we’ve been suckers for fun photobooths.
It was a good way to cap the night, and all I could hope for was that we were able to lift Che’s spirits up somehow.
