We won’t be in SG for the next month, so we had to get things in order on our last day here.
Che had to go to work, which left Vino and me at home to check what else needed to be done at home.
I harvested the last few clothes on the dryer and kept and folded them. Then we left to go to Great World for a few stuff to bring home.
We had lunch at a ramen place in the basement, because Vino can have ramen while I had my katsu curry. Win-win.
Hooga was our next stop. It’s been one of our go-to places for home stuff. Our bedsheets and towels mostly come from this shop, and our favorite fragrance has been their White Tea & Ginger.
They even had laundry pods that we love so much, but they have since run out of stock. I got the last four the shop sold last time around.
When we retired some of our bedsheets, Che’s sisters were so happy because of the softness of the fabric. So it was one of the items on their wishlist.
Another was the home scent, which I got as well. I found that they also had our favorite scent in car freshener format, so I got that as well.
There was an amazing sale in the shop, and I got everything for more than 100 less than the original price of the quilt cover set that I also got.
We then went to the supermarket for some snacks we could bring home.
I asked my sister what she wanted, but she mentioned most of the things she enjoyed in SG are readily available in the PH these days.
For Che’s sisters, salted egg sauces and snacks were still good. I got some Song Fa bah kut teh spices though, because those are always going to be good.
Before going home, Vino dragged me to the playground so he could play a bit.
After a while, we went home to prepare for his goalkeeper training.
It was going to be Vino’s last session for the month, so we just had to attend it. For this session, they were practicing jump saves.
Towards the end of it, the three of them were alternating shooting and blocking. Vino had 10 goals, the next guy had 7, and the last one had 3. Cool to see him still being passionate about scoring even if he wants to focus on goalkeeping.
Their training ended at 7PM, which meant I had time to join my own basketball team for the last game of the season.
As a role player, I usually get just 5-8 minutes of playing time in these games. But with our opponents only having six players and us having 11, it was a good idea to run them off by switching players constantly.
In this league, I have been happy to score at least a three-point field goal in each of the games I played. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that basket in two tries. I did get a block on my good friend though, so at least I’m at on the stat sheet.
It was a back-and-forth game, with the other team taking at least a seven-point lead and then us getting a good lead as well. Towards the end of the game, we were taking care of a 9-point lead or something and we were trying to use up the clock as much as we could.
While we did a good job burning time, we couldn’t buy a basket. The other team managed to trim the lead by just one point with only 31 seconds left in the game.
Our guys moved the ball with the instruction that they take the last shot. They did the best they could to follow the plan and got an open shot that pushed our lead to three with only 7 seconds left.
The other team called for an inbound pass to one of their key players, and he tried to bait the defender while shooting a three, but the refs refused to bail him out. Our team got the win, 54-51.
After the game, I had the chance to talk to a couple of friends to catch up about life. There’s usually a beer session after the game, but since we have an early flight, I just dropped by to say hello and goodbye to the guys.
When I got home, I was met by a very tired Che and a very playful Vino. Che shuffled the bags such that we won’t be overweight. We ended up with four big bags, two small bags, the gadget backpack on me, Che’s sling of work stuff, and Vino’s snack backpack.
She crashed on the bed as soon as she got the chance, and Vino was quick to sleep as well once everyone was on the bed.
It was a pretty eventful last day, and everyone got tired one way or another.
