After a false alarm yesterday, we were sure that it was really back to school today.

Vino wasn’t as enthusiastic about waking up this day as he was the day before, as he took his time getting out of bed. We still got to school on time, and it was back to my normal routine of running outdoors.

What I love about Singapore is that it’s very conducive to outdoor runs. There are plenty of routes I can take, whether I take the roads or go through parks. Since I am usually alone in the morning, it’s always a good time to just be out running instead of lounging at home.

I went to our old block in Dover to warm up before my run. There was an elderly exercise session going on that I don’t remember happening when we lived there. Anyway, on this day, I chose to run through One-North, which leads to the Rail Corridor, and out to Alexandra, which is near our place.

It’s my first time running this whole stretch. It was normal for me to walk on this route, but it’s my first time trying to run all the way.

My pace is a bit off, I think. If I’m slowing down, I’m really slow, but if I pick up the pace, I feel like I’m going over my pace. Before leaving for Korea, I could run over three kilometers without stopping. This time, I could feel my breath getting heavy a lot quicker than usual.

When I see my heart rate go over 153, I either stop or slow down to bring it down to the 140s. I want to get healthier, but I don’t want to push myself too hard because I don’t know how much my body can take. I feel like I’m pretty healthy otherwise, but I did have a friend who had a heart complication despite actively riding his bike on a regular basis.

I got home to see Che at home, still not feeling 100% enough to go to work. She’s been feeling sick these past few days, but based on how much time she’s been spending in front of the screen, it doesn’t look like she could afford to take a rest. There appear to be a lot of things that need to get done on a tight deadline, so she’s soldiering on despite her health.

I did my best to stay out of her way while still doing what needed to be done at home, such as the final massive load of laundry that needed to be taken care of.

For lunch, she specifically requested for soup. If I knew she was home, I would have bought kimchi to make her some kimchi jiggae. She asked for something that’s not spicy, so I suggested doenjang jiggae.

I didn’t have doenjang ready, so I had to go out to buy it first. I decided to load it up with some veggies to make it a bit heartier.

It was a light meal for me as I didn’t eat rice with it. Che had to eat while she was in a meeting, so I cleared the table for her to be able to work properly.

Later, I picked up Vino from school. He proudly showed me a drawing from an activity. I guess they were asked what they did during the holidays or the weekend, as he drew a picture of us watching the Mario movie with his friend. I mean, sure, we spent 10 days in Korea, but I guess his highlight was spending those two days with his friend.

When we got home, I sat around for a bit before getting back to the kitchen to prepare dinner. They requested meatballs for dinner, so I prepared some that I could also pop in for Vino’s lunch.

Meanwhile, I’m still detoxing all the good food I had in Korea, and I had a couple of boys’ sessions this past weekend, so I needed to get back to my diet.

It was a pretty fulfilling day, I feel like. I got laundry done, cooked homemade food for my family, and clocked a run in. I’m just hoping I could help Che feel better by supporting her medication with sustenance.
