As football parents, we have conceded that our Sundays would be reserved for Vino’s football game days.
However, on this day, we were able to squeeze in an appointment for Che. We had a long Saturday night, so we slept in for the morning, but made it a point to leave at noon to get to Che’s appointment.
I used my new purple hoodie, since I knew it was going to be hot.
Che and Steph hated the color choice because it was a kinda loud purple color. I like the color personally, though. I looked significantly thinner when Che took a photo of me. I’m not at my ideal weight just yet, I think, but I could notice the change from how big I got back in December.
We headed off to Bukit Timah, where Che’s appointment was. She had planned to get a tattoo for quite a while, but she wanted to try to find the right person to do the concept that she liked.
The concept involved Vino and my fingers, so we had to join her to plot it out on her arm. After our role, we left the artist to do her work as we needed to have lunch first.
I hoped to find a place to eat while we walked, but we didn’t find any by the time we reached the train station. We decided to take a short train ride and eat at Plaza Singapura.
After lunch, we went to the venue of the match. It was raining, so I thought the first match at 3pm would be cancelled, as it was last week. However, since we had already committed to going, we decided to just go there and be with the team.
When we reached the venue, the rain was still a bit hard, and there was a lot of uncertainty about what was going ot happen to the scheduled games. The first match was called off, and coach told the players that they are not allowed to watch or play on screens while waiting.
I asked Vino if he wanted to stay with his guys, but he just wanted to sit in his own space. Sometimes, he takes after his mom in not wanting to socialize with others. I sat with him and just talked about random things while passing time.
We were told that the games after our first game were cancelled as well. We waited for another 30 minutes to see if our second game was going to push through. Thankfully, the rain stopped, and they were able to play. At least we didn’t come for nothing.
We were up against Celtic, who apparently had a notable parent who would always shout louder than the coach. Our team was not at its best early on in the game, and the opponent was very physical.
Our goalkeeper conceded a couple of easy goals, which was a bit frustrating, but it was a good experience for them. Vino played in the second half, and he conceded an early goal.
He didn’t get to redeem himself because his team played with a lot more confidence and pressure, so the opponents didn’t get a lot of offensive opportunities. Ultimately, they lost, 3-2.
Vino and the guys were not as sad about it, though, which was good. The kids often feel burdened if they don’t get the win, so it’s nice to see them be in good spirits despite the loss.
We rode with one of his teammates going back home, where we further broke down things we saw in the game. We’re lucky that one of our teammates is a neighbor, so at least we’re able to enjoy the ride home with friends.
We hoped to have a massage when we got home, but Che and Vino didn’t feel like leaving the house anymore. We ordered food delivery for dinner and stayed home.
We didn’t celebrate as much on this third day of my birthday month, but it was still a fulfilling day for us all.
