After a couple of days being cooped up in the house, we were finally able to go out and have some physical activities.
I did restart my calisthenics, which I have neglected over the past few days in favor of running. I was doing well with sit ups before, and while not perfect, I could at least swing my arms to help myself up. Today, I needed to support myself by hanging on a bit to my knees in order to lift myself up for a full sit-up.
From 15 minutes, my program is now making me do 25 minutes of work, with two sets of each exercise.
Vino was finally back to football training, and it’s good to have him run around outside for a bit.
Usually, I would either play basketball or run with one of the dads while Vino was training. However, I decided this day that I was going to run outside. Running around the court let’s me mind my pace, but since I wasn’t able to run for the past three days, I thought I had to do a run outside.
It’s my first time to leave Vino alone while training. It’s not revolutionary, since there are a lot of parents who don’t watch their kids train. However, I do want him to feel supported when he’s training, and I want him to see me there when he looks back.
I know he’ll grow out of it, and I have to get used to that eventually, but not now – not yet. I’m just enjoying the moments that he still looks to me for support like this.
Anyway, I ran around the school, out to West Coast Park, and back to the road leading back to the school. I was catching up to The Koolpals podcast, and while I do enjoy listening to them, I think I could run better if I’m listening to music than laughing randomly.
I completed about four kilometers of running, depending on the fitness tracker – my watch and my Strava had a 200-meter discrepancy.
It’s been over two months already, I think, since I started exercising regularly, and I wore the same shirt I wore back in December when I pretty much looked my heaviest. While I have been told and can actually feel the difference, I wanted to have a photo to actually compare it.
I think there’s still a lot of work to be done, but I think I’ve made good progress over these past couple of months.
When I got back, Vino asked where I was. Apparently, he thought I was pooping for a long time, and he was surprised to see me all sweaty.
I watched the rest of his training, as they were already doing a scrimmage. He conceded a lot of goals, but I was happy to see him and his friends get excited about his incredible saves.
He also played on the field, so he ran a bit more than usual. He’s not so used to it, and he complained about having a stomachache after his training.
It didn’t last long though, as he had his favorite adobo at home to cap off his night, which I cooked before we left for training.
I planned on doing things with Vino during this week that he doesn’t have classes, but we both ended up being stuck at home. At least we were able to move today, and I’m hoping we could still make the most out of his remaining days of vacation.
