While I’m feeling like I’m in a bit of a slump, I think the best way to get over it is to face it head on.
I’ve been checking out my heart rate while I ran, and I found that I may not be running as efficiently as I want to. By this, I mean, I get tired, I sweat, but my body is not really burning the fats I need to.
With the advice of Nicky, I tried to run at a slower, but steady pace than I used to. The challenge was focus on a distance of 2kms. Last time, I said I couldn’t get through a full 1km. Upon consulting Nicky, he said my pace might be too fast for me.
On Wednesday, I got an idea of how fast I should run. So today, I tried it out at West Coast Park. surprisingly, I was able to complete a full 2kms without stopping. I was amazed at the difference the steady pace made with my run.
My heart rate looked good and was in a good fat-burning zone for a longer time. I was tired, but not as gassed as when I tried the 1km run at a quicker pace. I guess slow and steady does win the race.
Nicky gave me three initial sessions, which I’ll try to get done in the next few days.
At home, it was going to be just Vino and me, as Che was set to have dinner somewhere. When it’s just us, I usually prefer to order stuff so that we could hang out more.
However, I bought some fish last week, and I didn’t really want it to stay in the freezer for too long. He did request for fish the other day, so I decided to cook it today.
I found this quick recipe for a lemon-butter seabass. The more I tried doing it, the better I understand how to cook it best. It’s butter, lemon, salt, and pepper, basically, and it’s just a matter of how to incorporate the flavors together.
I think this is the best version I’ve cooked so far, and Vino finished his whole plate.
People notice that Vino is very thin, but it’s not intentional. He eats a lot, but he’s a snacker like his mom. He would get full quick, then grab snacks from time to time. But when he likes a particular food or dish, he’d have a lot of it.
So everytime I get a clean plate out of him, I feel like it’s an awesome accomplishment. It’s right up there at the levels of Ippudo and 4Fingers.
We went to bed to get ready to sleep, but Che told me that the dinner she went to did not have food, just cocktails. As requested, I prepared some Korean ramen for her when she got home.
We ended the night with an episode of Pro Bono before we both fell asleep watching it. Now we look forward to the start of the weekend with Vino having a big day tomorrow.
