For the first time in this journey to a new diet and lifestyle, I was experiencing a slump.
After a day when I walked a very fulfilling route, I came home from sending Vino to school just tired. I wanted to fold the clothes I put in the washer, wanted to clean up our pantry, and planned on doing some meal preps, but I ended up doing nothing.
I sat on the sofa and slept. Che was working from home, but she was scheduled for an executive check-up, so I didn’t have to prepare lunch for her.
There was a day, a week or two back, when I felt sore from all the exercise I’ve been doing. However, I soldiered on and continued to work. This day, I was just out of it.
Still, I knew I would be able to work out when I took Vino to football practice.
Unfortunately, there was heavy rain by the time we arrived at the venue. It was as if the skies were cooperating with my mood, and didn’t allow me to work out as much as I would want.
The training would apparently continue once the rain stopped. However, one of the dads and I saw that the field was soaking wet that even if the rain stopped, it wouldn’t be conducive for the kids to play.
He was kind enough to drop us off at our house, so we were home early.
I feel like it kind of broke my momentum, but maybe it’s my body and God’s way of telling me to slow down a bit.
I’m about 24 days into this, and I’ve already lost at least 2 kilograms of my weight. It feels like a fighter’s crash diet heading into a fight. I know I am getting stronger and lighter, but I know I’m not strong enough just yet.
I’m still struggling with some exercises on the light calisthenics, so I think there’s still work to be done there. I’m still determined to get back to work again by tomorrow to make sure that this slump stays at only one day.
