The Lunar New Year is the big holiday in Singapore, so there weren’t a lot of shops open over these two days.

Since we hosted Vino’s friend for their sleepover, we didn’t really go out the day before, and our morning was spent by last-minute gaming for the boys.

After his friend left, we thought about what we could do for dinner. I participated in a call that talked about consumer behaviors in Singapore, and I realized I’ve been here pretty long already.

I moved here in October 2015, a few months before Che and I got married in the Philippines. We’ve basically lived our married life together here in The Little Red Dot. I was in a panel with mostly Filipinos living here, including my cousin, who has been here since even before my sister went here.

As per my cousin, the interviewers appreciated my insights, so I guess my spending habits have adjusted to be more like the locals over the past decade.

While I was on the call, Che told me we would have dinner at MBS, just so we could have a little festive feeling during this Lunar New Year.

Interestingly, this is a rare time when the LNY coincided with the start of Ramadan. Even further, we realized it was Ash Wednesday a little too late to attend masses for it.

Anyway, we went to MBS and ate at Gordon Ramsey’s Bread Street. Vino watched Hell’s Kitchen with me, so he was kinda interested with some of the dishes that they served, particularly the scallops. Unfortunately, they didn’t have it on the menu. Surprisingly, he didn’t want to try the Beef Wellington, but that’s a win for us because it was a bit expensive.

He asked for his own starter, the crispy calamari. He had fish and chips, Che had the cod, while I got cauliflower. I told Vino that I wouldn’t be able to eat as much as before and I would be cutting down on meat, and I guess him choosing the fish and chips was his way of supporting me.

I’m currently on medication for my cholesterol, but I’m hoping to ease away from it eventually because of its potential side effects. As for meats, I want to stay off from it for now, just to help the medicine lower my cholesterol level. I think I would eventually it it again, but I don’t think I’ll have full plates like before.

I do have to form the habit of exercising, especially with a number of trips we’re planning this year. Hopefully, I could sustain this, as previous trips stopped my momentum on exercise.
