On paper, it seemed we’d be in the Philippines for quite a while this holiday season, but in reality, it felt a bit short.

We saw some important people in our lives, but of course, we still missed a bunch more. The holiday traffic, as well as all the other gatherings with friends and family, prevented us from seeing others.

It’s not that they couldn’t make time or we couldn’t give them time, it’s just a very busy season, and we understand we won’t get to meet everyone.

It was fun while it lasted, and it’s always nice to get to laugh with friends and family again in person.

I woke up relatively early, hoping to clean up the car before I left. But my parents and my sister were all sitting at the table, so I figured I’d just sit with them for the last time in this trip.

I had a pretty heavy breakfast because there was pinangat served and some Christmas ham. I was thinking we’d be leaving by 10:30am so I wasn’t in too much of a rush.

When I went upstairs, I learned from Che that she booked the Grab for 10am, so we did have to rush a bit. We woke up Vino so that he could eat a little bit. There was a car parked in front of our house, so I got curious because I knew we were waiting for an Avanza, but an Xpander was there.

Apparently, our ride changed, and he was there early. I never want to waste drivers’ time, but he did get to us early, so he had to wait for us a little bit. I offered some bread while my dad offered some tea and some stories while he waited.

We left on time at 10am and since there was no traffic, we reached the airport in 45 minutes. Our flight was at 2pm, and they were still checking in the 12:45pm flight. We asked if we could shift to that flight, and luckily, we could.

Che and Vino sat together while I had to deal with this older gentleman who encroached on my armrest and leg space.

I did get to watch a couple of nice movies – Good Fortune starring Keanu Reeves and F1 featuring Brad Pitt. My key takeaway – these guys literally age like fine wine. How can they still look good at however old they are now?

We arrived in Singapore a couple of hours earlier than we expected due to a lucky break we had with the flight. It’s just nice because we were able to still get ready for our flight out tomorrow.

We had food delivered as we watched more Dynamite Kiss on TV. At some point, fatigue set in with Che as she got knocked out while watching on the sofa.

After I cleaned up a bit and wrote the blog, we moved to the bedroom, where I asked Vino to try to sleep already because we were leaving early in the morning.

It’s going to be really short, but it’s nice to get to sleep in our own bed after our trip to the Philippines.
