Shifting my diet and exercise routines haven’t been easy, but I have a clear motivation for doing it.
I could be very petty at times, and I could have easily chosen to work on my weight a while back just to tell people off. However, I would eventually just lose my momentum because the motivation was just too weak.
Since way back, I would always want to eat and just work out more to make up for the food I eat. By doing that, though, I end up enjoying the “eating” part more than the “working out” part.
The last check up was different. While I’ve known that my cholesterol levels have been high through annual checks over the past three years, it was the first time that I’ve been told that it might be affecting my body more negatively than before.
Since I’ve felt it firsthand, it just felt like a slap from reality. I decided then that I’d do the necessary steps to lose weight and work on bringing my cholesterol levels down.
I’ve always dreaded the day when meat would be banned for me. My sister and my mom are somewhat allergic to some seafood, so I actually thought I might eventually develop that allergy and I wouldn’t care because I didn’t eat much of it. But meat was a different conversation.
Removing red meat was one of the reasons why I never really got any momentum on lowering my cholesterol levels. Now, I’ve limited myself to tasting just a little bit of it from time to time as well as when I cook.
Thankfully, it’s not a life-threatening ban, so I could still have it, theoretically. However, not having it has really helped me in a lot of aspects of my life. I mean, I’m not saying a good steak will be bad, but I guess I was just having too much meat back then that it was affecting my daily life already.
Anyway, since I’ve started this, I believe there have been visible results. While I appreciate that I am getting thinner, I think I won’t be thin to the point of working on getting muscular cuts. As you can see in the picture, a little bit of flab is required for this boy to have a comfortable pillow to lie on.
He specifically said he didn’t want me all muscular like that. He loves playing with extra fats, wherever they may be. Personally, I’m just happy to be able to wear clothes a full size down. I still like baggy and loose clothes, but it’s nice to see that I can wear tighter clothes again and not feel insecure about it.
I want to be able to run with him when he plays football and play with his friends when they’re short on players. I want to travel everywhere with Che and carry our bags. I feel like some parts of my body are not as strong as they used to be, but I hope the things I am doing now will help me get some of it back and help me enjoy those things in the future.
Of course, I also want to grow old enough to see Vino doing silly things like these to his own kid/s:
