A bunch of things were set to happen this day, as it was Vino’s Christmas party in school, and his last day of football training.
Kids were asked to come to school in festive outfits, so we had Vino choose his “drip” for the day. We gave him a few options, but he was the one who mixed and matched the things he wanted to wear.
I wouldn’t say I’m the fashionable parent, so I’m happy that Vino doesn’t take after me this early in his life. Well, he has some weird tastes like mine at times, but his body type right now is somewhat very flexible in terms of the types of clothes he can wear.
After dropping him off in school, I went to visit my friend’s coffee shop around Tanjong Pagar. I came by before to show support, and recently, he said the shop has been struggling.
I came by to check out what’s been going on his shop and catch up with him about life.
He came a bit late, so I finished my initial order. He offered some coffee and later on he also offered some food for me to try. I practically spent the whole morning at the shop.
When I first came to Singapore, Che and I lived with friends, but they were Che’s classmates in college. I didn’t have my own community, and I made one through basketball.
I met these group of guys who would become my constant basketball guys. They invited me to be a part of their team, and from there, my community just grew bigger.
One by one though, my OG guys have went on their separate ways. Some went back to the PH, others moved to a different country to be with family, and even if some of them are still here, they’re in a different neighborhood already. Bones, my guy who is a part owner of the shop, is one of my OG guys. We don’t get to catch up often, so we had a lot to talk about this day.
I went home for a bit before picking up Vino from school. We headed straight home as he had football training later on. It will be his last session for the year, as we will be heading back to the Philippines for the holidays.
He woke up super early in the morning because he was excited about the party, so he fell asleep on the bus heading home.
He may not have taken after me on a lot of things, but this one talent he has of sleeping on the bus like it’s nobody’s business is something that’s very me. I hope he gets Che’s sense of light sleeping, especially while using public transport.
We went to football training, where there were again just three of them training. Most of the kids are on holiday already, but coach said they don’t stop for any holiday, so he’ll be there to teach whether he has students or not.
I wanted to run a bit, but I got caught up talking to one of the dads, and we ended up just chatting through the whole training. Meanwhile, our kids went through a rigorous training day, as they were doing drills almost non-stop.
After training, I got Jollibee for dinner. Che was out for an office dinner, so dinner was just Vino and me. Jollibee allowed me to have some extra food for his lunch tomorrow.
Since we had delivery food, there wasn’t much dishes to clean up. We went to the room where we played Call of Duty for a bit. Vino likes to invite me to play Roblox games that I don’t really care for. I sometimes would play it with him just to figure out what kind of game it was, but I’d later tell him it’s not the kind of game that I like to play.
So now that he has a good grasp of playing games, I’m getting him to play games that I could enjoy playing. He has third-person shooters in Roblox, and he sometimes uses first-person views as well, so I thought it would be better to draw him out of Roblox and into more mainstream games.
It was already 10pm, so I asked him to sleep already. I put Confidence Queen on TV so that he’d sleep already. Che didn’t like the pace it was going in the first episode, but the closure-seeking person that I am wanted to know what happened in the series.
I expected Vino to sleep already, but he got invested in the story, and actually was still awake by the time Che got home. Vino askd me to watch a different show as he went to sleep, because he wanted to also watch it now.
Now I’ve got to figure out what I could watch while Che and him are not home yet.
