It’s a training day for Vino, and I took it as a chance to train myself.

After I took Vino to school, Che asked me for an errand. She planned to bake a cake, so I went to a shop to buy some boxes for it.

When I got there, there was a lot of options on sizes, so I had to confirm with her on what size I needed. Of course, she wouldn’t be able to answer immediately as she was in the office already, so I walked around the hawker center to maybe eat first while I waited for her.

I sent her some pictures of the boxes so she can decide which one is appropriate for whatever she’s baking.

Before I could eat, she confirmed what she needed, so I got it and went home. I finished off some of the leftovers from dinner and received the delivery of Che’s ingredients for her planned bake later.

Vino had club activities, so I picked him up a bit later than usual before we went to the nearby hawker center to have our usual pre-training snack. He had char siew pau while I had egg-onion prata.

He told me that he is apparently the most popular kid in year 4 now because news of what happened to him the day before spread already. A lot of kids got concerned about how he was because there were rumors that he couldn’t talk after what happened.

I asked if he was still able to play during lunchtime, and he said he did, and his classmate was banned from the games. He said the kid just went a different way whenever he saw Vino with other friends. So I guess he knows he did something really wrong.

I emailed the school regarding my concerns about the incident, and I was assured that they have taken action and appropriate people have been informed in order to ensure that it wouldn’t happen again.

At least, Vino is in good spirits, and he is in his usual silly self.

After our snacks, we got on the bus and headed off to the training grounds. We stopped over a playground so that we could arrive at the school just in time for us to be allowed to get inside the school where he trains.

While he trained, I put on these compression sleeves that I bought online. I wanted to see how it would help my knees when I ran or jumped while playing. One of the dads asked to shoot hoops with me, which was a nice surprise.

Dude was a good shooter, he said he played basketball way back. Later, one of the other dads, a football guy, came to play with us as well before he went on a run.

After an hour of shooting and running, we went back to the kids so that we could watch their game. I think the sleeves felt different, but I’m not sure how much it helped my knees.

The kids’ match was fun. Vino was trying out several things and he’d look at me with a smile when it worked.

While we were watching, one of the dads said it would be nice to maybe have a beer while watching the kids play. We ended up planning a post-training dinner and beer session with the kids sometime in the near future.

So yeah, I guess the football dads are leveling up our friendship.

We went home for dinner, but Che went home a bit late because of work. When she arrived, she still had some things to do, but stayed with Vino on the bed so he could sleep already.

It’s busy season again for Che, and this time with no exact date of when there would be some peace. For now, all I can do is cheer her on and give her all the space she needs so she can perform her best.
