We spent the night (morning?) at the Cabusora’s place in Taytay. Since it was built, their family has opened their doors for the whole group to come over for parties or even sleepovers.
Over the years that we’ve known each other, we’ve visited each other’s homes and have always been accepted in, so we’ve seen their moms and dads be our own moms and dads. Since Rey lived in QC before – close to where we would usually drink – it’s very accessible for us to come over frequently.
Now that they’re in Taytay, it’s a bit more difficult to reach, but the values remained the same. Their generosity of their own space and practically everything in their pantry is unmatched.
I woke up thinking it was 10am already, and I was surprised it was just a little before 8am. I went down around 8:30am, fully thinking that my morning people would be present.
At the dining table, though, was only tatay having breakfast.
We talked a bit and caught up about things, whether about last night, the plans for the day, or stuff that have been going on recently. The kids woke up one by one.
Tatay had to leave for church, so I was with the kids for a while. I had to reset the router once because the wifi wasn’t working. Later, the adults started going down.
Christian cooked adobo and tinola, Carla booked a massage therapist for Che, me, and Vino, but Vino said he didn’t want to anymore, so I said Arianne should get one instead.
We ate and talked about what we remembered from the night before. Sometimes, I’d like to imagine that this is how we would all grow old. When the kids are no longer with us, maybe we’d have a house for ourselves and have gatherings like these.
It would be fun to have a senior home with seniors that I grew up with. Maybe we’d no longer have alcohol, but we’d always have good food and good laughs.
Our flight was at 7:30pm, so we kinda rushed a bit to say goodbye to the guys. I’ve long gotten over my FOMO, but this weekend felt really short because of all the fun that we’ve had that I had a bit of separation anxiety.
I sent messages to my friends to personally thank them for making this short trip truly memorable.
When we got to the airport, we learned that our flight was delayed by an hour and a half. We took our time to have dinner and walked around a bit, as Che wanted to look for a jacket. Terminal 3 was unusually cold around gates 101-102.
Our flight was on time on their late reschedule, at least.
Initially, we planned that we would be home by 12 midnight so that Vino could still sleep and go to school. However, with the delay, we arrived at the airport at 12 already.
Even though we didn’t have checked baggages, it was still a bit too late for Vino to sleep and go to school the next day. We decided to just see how he goes tomorrow when deciding if he should go to school or not.
