With Che flying out, it was just me and Vino for most of this day. My phone will once again be filled with photos of us together to update Che about what’s going on at home.
Vino asked me the night before if he could wake up earlier than usual, so I decided to wake him up at around 7am instead of about 7:20am. He surprisingly got up quite easily.
I keep telling him that if he wants to do things in the morning, he should get up early. That means also sleeping earlier. He sleeps around 11pm on average during weekdays because he wants to play longer or watch movies before sleeping.
If I can get him to sleep between 9-10pm, I think he would have more energy getting up early for school. Last night, he slept at about 10pm, which probably gave him enough time to rest.
It worked out well because I was expecting a cleaner to come by at 9am at home. After I brought him to school, I immediately went back to open the door for the cleaner.
We had deliveries coming today, and we wanted to have the place clean before the new stuff comes in.
The deliveries came earlier than expected, but at least the spots were ready. Our new toy came and now has a spot in our room.
It’s quite thin, but the depth and height look a bit much, at least for the space that we reserved for it. Functionally, this space makes the most sense as the Styler can also be used as a dehumidifier. This walk-in for our clothes would need it from time to time, especially with this Singapore weather.
I’ll wait for Che’s input on how she feels about the space because pictures sometimes don’t really give you the actual feeling of something.
We’re both going to be using it, but I feel like it’s a great early Christmas gift for both of us.
After settling things at home, I went to pick Vino up from school. I wasn’t planning on having lunch, since I already had some breakfast with Vino. However, I felt a bit light-headed already, so I decided to go and have some prata at the hawker stall near the school. Since I was there, I thought I’d grab some char siu pau for him as well, as he’s been hungry after school these past few days.
After eating his food, we walked to the bus stop and went home. We agreed that we will set aside at least an hour after school to refresh some lessons. He was very receptive to the idea.
I’d like to think that I’m somewhat smart. I was never top-level smart when I was in school, but I’ve always been far ahead of the bottom dwellers in academics. I understand concepts, and I can use the basics to produce complicated outputs.
Now that Vino is figuring things out as a student, I want him to have a solid foundation in basic things like the multiplication table and sentence construction. He was already taught these things earlier, so I just want to hammer it in more so he doesn’t forget.
This little dude was doing multiples of five when he was four years old. I think he is capable of a lot of things that aren’t just tapped into because of how the school’s academic system works.
Right now, he’s really good at understanding how games work and the lore behind the games. I feel like he took after me in the sense that I sometimes deep dive into something that has caught my interest. It’s why I know a lot about basketball, some games, and even movies.
While I read, Vino chooses to watch related YouTube videos. I know these because he would excitedly share random facts about a game to me when we talk. It’s also why I want to limit his YT time because he’s taking some fan fiction as facts at times.
Case in point, he was telling me what’s going to happen at K-Pop Demon Hunters 2 when it comes out because he watched videos of fans making it appear as if that’s where the story is headed. These things do make sense, but in reality, I don’t think the writer of K-Pop Demon Hunters even know where they want to take the story just yet.
It’s the double-edged sword that YT is – on one end, it allowed Vino to learn about colors before turning two, and on the other, there are those that promote false realities.
He set a timer, and I allowed him to play a bit while I prepared dinner for us. I had minced beef, which I was going to make into Tropical Hut’s QFB. It’s turning into one of his favorites, which is good, because it at least has vegetables.
We started to settle down around 9:30pm because he wanted to wake up early again tomorrow.
Che was an hour behind of our timezone, so she just finished dinner and just reached her hotel. We had a quick call before sleeping. Vino easily found his spot after the call and fell asleep quickly.
As for me, this is when I do my revenge binge watching – it’s my free time to watch whatever I wanted. However, I age caught up with me, as I dozed off before I finished Running Man.
Normally, I’d try to get up to watch a bit more, but lately, I’ve been feeling it’s better to just sleep it off. Too much time has been wasted on doom scrolling, so it was better to get some needed rest.
