The great thing about not having plans is that there is always something else to be done.

Che was supposed to go to the office this day, and I planned on joining Issa for a bike ride. However, when Che said she would be working from home, I begged off from the bike trip because I wanted to cook something for Che.

She would have a lot of days away from us in the next few weeks, so I wanted to be able to cook something for her at least while she’s here.

After I dropped Vino off from school, I went back home to Che. She had a slow morning after a couple of meetings got canceled, so we had a bit of time to catch up on K-Drama.

We started Pump Up For Healthy Love on Viu. It kinda dragged a bit and the main characters weren’t really that good looking, so it almost became a chore to finish. But we had to have closure.

For lunch, I had some ingredients in the fridge and I ended up preparing soy miso honey chicken.

It’s not something I normally do, but I bought miso paste for a salmon dish I tried, and I needed to find other ways to make use of it. We had some boneless chicken breast and legs on hand, and I thought it would be nice to try it out.

I quickly marinated the chicken and cooked it in an air fryer. Took out some kimchi to put on the side. For rice, she had plain rice, while I put the marinated gojuchang, sesame oil, and furikake on mine.

We planned on visiting the event space beside MBS for a food event. I was supposed to pick up Vino from school while Che went to Tiong Bahru. Then we would follow and go to MBS from there.

I picked up Vino from school and we took the bus going home. It was pretty damn hot this day, with little to no effort needed to sweat. We were comfortably sitting in the bus when Vino decided he wanted to walk.

I tried to talk him out of it because it was really hot, but he said he wanted to, so we went. We made a game out of our walk, trying to stay only in the shadows as we headed up. It was a different kind of fun than what we usually had while walking.

Later, when Vino and I got to Tiong Bahru to meet Che, we ended up in Don Don Donki and weren’t able to leave. Steph said there was a chance of rain, so we decided not to risk it since the food park was an outdoor space.

Additionally, Vino had an early match day next day, so we thought it would be better off just staying at home.

We got some sushi and yakitori and went home to my beer stock for an easy night in.

I’ve never really been a planner, but I get frustrated when I put in work to organize something and things don’t go according to schedule. As such, I have taken the attitude of not really being married to my ideas.

There’s no guarantee that my original plan would play out better than what happened anyway. I am lucky enough to have the luxury of time, thanks to Che. So I feel like anything I wasn’t able to do, I can do any other day.

What always matters is that we do things together whenever possible. It sounds clingy, sure. However, we are always in constant communication about what we need – be it needing alone time, quiet hangouts, or leisurely strolls.

I believe it helps that we each get our voices heard so that we can get to do things that we like and always have something to look forward to.
