Not a lot of things done, but got some things out of the way, so I guess it’s still an ok day for just the two of us.
Vino woke up surprisingly early at around 7:30am. He said it’s about my snoring, but I think he was just excited to be back home. I say this because I usually snore anyway, and he sleeps through it regardless.
We didn’t have much at home in terms of groceries, owing to being away for over a month, but we still had chicken nuggets in the freezer, so at least we were ok for breakfast
Vino asked to play 99 Nights in the Forest, and I thought we should be ok since the cleaner was coming in at 4pm. We started around 10:30am and I wanted to leave by around 1:30pm. Good thing Che told me that I was confused about the timings – her original arrival in SG was supposed to be 4pm, while the cleaner was set to come in at 2pm.
We continued to play, and I had to order takeout food for lunch. We were grinding hard in the game, thanks to the reliable wifi we have now. I had some robux in my account, which I used about 3 times when we ran out of bandages and medkits.
Around 4:00pm, we reached day 500, and there’s nothing much to do in the game, really. Just minor tasks that could get us awarded with diamonds. When I died in the game, I decided to just let it go until Vino finishes. I thought he was also okay with what we have achieved, but he cried hard when he finally died in the game.
I told him if he hadn’t died, I would have told him to stop anyway because we needed to catch the uniform shop.
While we were walking, Vino told me that he was super excited that I am playing 99 Nights in the Forest with him because he’s been asking me to play Roblox and he rarely found a game that I’d be interested in. With 99 Nights in the Forest though, we’re playing together for hours.
We burned through the hours of our first day in SG, but I’m happy that he’s happy. After all, it’s the main reason why I decided to quit my day job.
The uniform shop closes at 6pm, so we had to rush off to the place. When we got there, I got the news that they no longer have stock as the school was looking for a new uniform supplier.
This is where networking comes in handy. I asked a couple of Vino’s friends if they could lend an extra shirt for Vino and one of them immediately responded.
We went to their place to get an extra uniform, and the kids got to play a bit. Both of them were really excited to see each other, but as kids these days, they went to their gadgets soon after.
I think Vino still has a bit to go before I can be comfortable leaving him in the care of others. He’s a good kid, but he tends to copy how his friends act. We talked about it after we left, and I guess he understood.
While in the bus, he started with “daddy, I want to tell you something, and I’ve been keeping it for a while.”
I was getting myself ready for whatever it could be. It sounded really serious.
“I changed the CPU settings in EAFC, that’s why I’m so good at it,” he said.
I’ve always told him to move up the competition already because he won’t get better if he sticks to low-difficulty CPU players. Apparently, he did, but later went back to a lower difficulty.
I didn’t care much for it, really. Like I told him, it’s for him, not for me. But I appreciated that he told me anyway. I could see the relief on his face after sharing this “secret” of his.
We went to Ippudo for dinner, because it’s my go-to if I want him to eat a lot.
Later, we went to the supermarket to buy some groceries, at least some breakfast things. It hurts to see how much I spent again, but hey, that’s the price to pay living in SG.
Vino asked to play again when we got home, but I told him I needed to get things ready for his first day.
You know the memes about men not being able to find anything in the house but women can find it in two seconds? Well, I learned that it’s not a housewife-husband thing, it’s probably more inherent in men and women.
I had to message Che, who was working on a Sunday in the PH, to ask where we kept Vino’s school tablet. I went through practically all the drawers and cabinets twice before messaging her, and suddenly thought of one more place I may not have checked yet.
We slept a bit late, because I had to play with Vino a bit as promised. He still wanted to eat a snack, but I told him I can’t allow it as he already needs to sleep.
Once we got to bed, he removed his glasses and immediately crashed out. Sometimes, even he doesn’t know that his body needs to rest already.
Tomorrow’s going to be his first day in Year 4! Let’s see how it goes.
