We had a full day of just the two of us, the three of us, and a lot of us.
There were no fixed plans for the day, so there was no rush to wake vino up to start the day. As per usual, he woke up after Che left for work.
We hung out for a while after I finished writing the blog and I ordered lunch.
Listening to Bago Matulog with Red Ollero’s podcast is bad for weight. In one of the episodes, he kept raving about Boomdogs and how they had a “buy 10 hotdogs” pack. The fact that he says it’s as good as Smokey’s made me even more interested to try it.
Vino is in his hotdog phase, so I’m letting him try the different ones available here.
Happy to report that Boomdogs was a hit. We got the all-beef Pinoy, American, and Chili dogs and had some sour cream fries on the side. Red knows his food.
I asked Vino to get the clothes from the washing machine and proceeded to fold it while he was relaxing on the bed. After I did my chore, I decided to lie down on the bed as well. I slept for a couple of minutes and woke up to Vino telling me there was an accident.
Apparently, he broke the glass pitcher because he was playing his football pillow.
I snapped.
I asked if I was asking for too much by crashing on the bed for a few minutes. I told him he’s been playing inside the house for so long already, he should know by now what things he might hit. I ranted a lot, with a mixture of shouts and bed-hitting.
I called housekeeping to clean it up and collected myself. Once I calmed down, I said I’m sorry for snapping like I did. Personally, I know it’s not just because of a damn broken pitcher.
I know I’ve said I love being a housedad, but the reality is there’s no turning it off. I’m always gonna be doing what I’m doing with no vacation leaves. I feel like I don’t ask for much for myself, and this past week, I had a couple of conflicts for choosing me; I had a squabble with Che over the late-night second drinking session, and this time, Vino broke a pitcher because I slept for a bit.
I talked Vino through why I got mad and explained to him that I expected him to know better because he’s had these accidents before. After I said my piece, he said an honest, unprompted “I’m sorry” and we hugged it out.
I want to normalize him being able to say he’s sorry because, as I explained in the previous blog, our generation has a hard time saying it sincerely.
We walked to look for a potential dinner spot for Che’s birthday dinner. We reached Forbeswood then walked back to Serendra. I remembered Steph asking for something from Nike, so we decided to walk there.
Unfortunately, Ja Morant was also visiting, so there were tons of people around and we couldn’t even go inside. We decided to just walk a bit more. I thought about using the car to go to Uptown, but I figured parking might be a challenge.
Grab was an option, but since we were so close, no drivers were taking us. Vino was game to walk it, so we went to Toy Kingdom so that he can find Pugsy. It’s a toy he asked me to buy a couple of weeks ago but was quickly broken, so now he’s looking for a functional one.
We had a successful expedition at least. I also got him goggles for if he wanted to swim over the next few days.
As we headed back, we wanted to take Grab, but we had the same predicament. So, we walked again. Vino was a warrior, so I told him he could grab a drink from the convenience store if he wanted.
Since it was a Friday, I asked Che if she wanted to eat out for some good food. We walked to Las Flores which was less than 5 minutes of walk from our place.
It was a restaurant I’ve tried years ago, which I only remembered because of the location.
They had good food, albeit on the pricy side. We wanted some bread for the chorizo so we asked for more. We were willing to pay, but learned that the 1-inch pandesal was 25 pesos EACH. Sure, it’s nice, but it’s not the best pandesal in the world to ask me to pay 25 pesos for that small bite. My garlic clove was bigger than that thing.
We went back home because the Lataks were coming. I fondly call the crew of Ten, Elle, Chiro and Kaloi as such because there was one time I had three straight nights of drinking and met them on the fourth day. By then, I didn’t have much energy to do anything, and they said “latak mo na lang pala kami, kuya.”
Since that day, I vowed to keep up with them in every drinking session we had.
On this night, they each brought 6 liters of beer because of some miscommunication. But, better to have more than enough rather than less of what we’d need.
We watched Final Destination Bloodlines while drinking, and I was multitasking by playing 99 Nights in the Forest with the kids.
Later, Che asked to sleep because she needed the rest, while the rest of us babbled on.
Elle was starting to fall asleep, so we asked her to move to the sofa. Chiro had work the next day, but his 2am became 2:30 until ultimately, they left at 3am. Kaloi held on, even if he had squinty eyes during the movie.
We called it a night after I downed the last liter of beer at around 4am.
Elle and Kaloi said they were heading home early, but let’s see how they do in a few hours.
