I usually do calisthenics for running rest days, but today, the neglected chores have piled up too much.
After days of keeping the things we used in the dryer, I finally had to deal with it by folding it.
We usually have cleaners come in on Thursdays, and while they can fold clothes, I usually do it myself. Most of Che’s clothes are hung, so I didn’t want to unfold and do it all over again.
Sometimes I wonder if I should get a part-time job, but moments like these when I see such a huge mountain of clothes piled up make me glad I don’t have one. Che and I like to see the house clean, so at least one of us is able to dedicate time to clean up from time to time.
I got a medical alert about Vino from the school clinic, saying he got hurt when he tripped on the stairs. I’m guessing it wasn’t too serious as there was no advice to pick him up.
I wanted to buy spring onions before picking him up, but the bus timing had me reaching school just in time for Vino’s dismissal.
While I could buy it myself, I thought it would be good to get Vino outside for a bit. Luckily, the second bus heading home was going to take a while, so I asked him to walk with me.
He was hungry, so we ended up at Subway for a quick snack.
I think my mood is radiating too much because I feel that Vino is a bit uneasy around me. I hoped that running would improve it, but I guess it didn’t do much to lighten my mood.
I’m hopeful that short dates like these could help me reconnect with Vino more.
We went to the supermarket after Subway and rode the bus home. We got fish over the weekend, so I planned on cooking it today.
Since I started cooking fish, I’ve done steaming, frying, and baking. Most of them have the same components no matter what fish I use. This day’s experiment was pomfret.
I looked up recipes, but decided to do the same process that I did for the steamed fish dish I did before.
I steamed the fish on a bed of spring onions, ginger, and garlic. On a separate pan, I toasted some garlic in oil. Then in a sauce pan, I made my sauce mix – light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sake, and sugar.
Once the fish was done steaming, I transferred it to a plate, where I poured the sauce and the oil with toasted garlic.
One of my biggest regrets as a home cook was that I never cooked a lot of fish for Vino. Still, I think it’s never too late, and he’s been enjoying the fish dishes that I’ve tried cooking so far.
Now to figure out how to cook healthier breakfast food.
