Throughout my life here in Singapore, I’ve lived in the same neighborhood, but I think I haven’t fully explored the area just yet.
I feel like I want to do that by walking and running. Since the pandemic, runners (and bikers) have been a pretty common sight on the streets. So it’s not really weird to see someone running at any point of the day, which is nice because you’re not the only sweaty person walking around.
On this day, I decided to take on a familiar route by going through unfamiliar ones. I took a turn to a road that I’ve never walked through along Dover to see where it leads.
I ended up at the AYE, a major expressway, but it had a couple of walking paths. The one I took led me to the hospital, NUH. At some point, I was walking inside the hospital, all sweaty from the heat outside.
Ultimately, I ended up on the road again, and I went on to go to Kent Ridge Park.
Interestingly, my Facebook memories reminded me that I posted my first time walking up that path was exactly a year ago.
Anyway, this day wasn’t really as sunny as it was in the previous days, so it was an enjoyable walk with a cool breeze. I even found my way to a lookout point.
Unlike my last time walking here, there wasn’t much of a crowd. There were one or two people I passed by, but far from the groups of people who also walked this path when I came here.
I don’t know if it’s just the weather in the previous days or there are less people who walk this park now.
It took me about an hour and a half to get home. With all the work I have done theses past few weeks, I’m happy to see the weighing scale show 84kgs now. I understand that this is a dehydrated state after workout without breakfast.
However, from a regular 88 to 89kgs, I feel like this is great progress. It’s almost a shock to my body because the change was practically overnight. I just went cold turkey on red meat and just started ramping up physical activities.
Despite the pains and the sacrifices, I have found ways to at least make the journey interesting so that I never lose interest in it. For food, I’ve added quite a few healthy recipes now. For exercise, it’s walking to new places.
It’s only a little over two months before my 40th, so I’m hoping there are enough interesting parks to walk in the next coming weeks.
