Sunday was a full day for all of us, but in a really good way. From our bellies to our hearts, it was pretty fun.
Vino was slated to attend a birthday party at the Science Center. He owns his drip now, and there was no convincing him to not wear the jacket.
He has particular styles now, and when given the choice on what he could wear, he’s been pretty good at selecting his wardrobe. I’m just a bit frustrated because he’s choosing almost the same things every time, despite him having a lot more clothes than I did at his age.
I wanted to say he has more clothes than me, but I just tried cleaning up my cabinet and I could say that there is still a lot there.
Anyway, I dropped him off to the party, which was pretty far from our house. If I took a cab home, it would be expensive, while taking the public transport would give me about 10 minutes at home before I need to leave again.
So, I made the most out of my time and went on a walk. Jurong Lake was right beside the Science Center, so I tried to explore it.
The last time I was here, I was hunting for Pokemon. I think it was renovated recently, so it’s even cleaner than I remember it. It wasn’t crowded, and it was surprisingly quiet.
While I consider myself as an extrovert, I do love moments when I can be just by myself, listening to podcasts or watching shows while I eat somewhere. While the sun was shining brightly, I didn’t feel the heat.
I started with Japanese Garden, walked to Lakeside Garden, before ending up at Chinese Garden and to the path where I could go back to where Vino’s party was.
Meanwhile, Che stayed at home but also got busy. She cleared out the storage room for more decluttering and organizing.
Late in the afternoon, we were set to meet up with Che’s old colleagues who she worked with when she first got to Singapore.
We rarely get to meet, but it’s always a good time when we do. We had a lot of catching up to do, so the ladies talked among themselves, the boys talked, and the kids did their own thing.
We had an early hotpot dinner, and I managed to not eat pork. Yes, I surprised even myself. There were plenty of options, though, so I was really full by the end of it. I think I could have had more, but there was apparently a time limit to our stay.
As we walked out, we went to the playground so the kids could play.
I’m happy to see Vino act like a big brother. I think between five to seven, he still saw himself as the “baby” so he didn’t want to play with younger kids. However, he’s been very caring and considerate when playing with them recently.
The kids also like him being silly and playful with them, and they tend to mimic what he’s doing. It’s amusing to watch, and I couldn’t be more proud of him.
At this age, he’s able to play with both bigger kids and younger kids. He’s gotten a good understanding of how he should act depending on who he plays with. His teacher in school told us that he’s very sociable in school and he displays leadership qualities, which was a bit surprising because of how reserved he can be when we see him.
I hope he continues those good qualities, though, because it’s better that he shares his values instead of getting influenced by some of the not-so-good kids around him.
