It wasn’t an ideal start to the week, but it is what it is.
Vino’s rest day was apparently not enough for him to recharge for the week. Che said he felt that he was still unusually hot, so we decided to let him rest first.
I prepared congee for breakfast, something that’s easy for him to consume.
As Che went to work, Vino and I went to the clinic downstairs. There weren’t a lot of people, but we still had to wait a bit. I feel like Vino could have gone to school with his condition, but Che didn’t want him infecting anyone else.
While waiting for our turn, his temperature was taken, and we found out that he indeed had a fever. When he was younger, I would panic when he lost his appetite or his smile, but otherwise, I feel that he’s fine.
Now, it didn’t look like there was anything wrong with him save for some mucus running down his nose at times.
The doctor checked up on him and I told him that Vino said he vomited a bit in the morning. The doctor said it’s probably phlegm buildup, so it was kinda normal. He did check for influenza or COVID, just to be safe.
Thankfully, the test came back negative, so we went home armed with medicine for his symptoms. We were given a medical certificate saying that he’s not to fit to go to school for two days. Again, I feel that this is being too cautious, but fine.
When we got back home, I told him to lay off his tablet for a while so he can get some rest. I ended up falling asleep a few times while we were on the bed watching TV.
For lunch, I ordered Ippudo for him, as requested, because I wanted him to eat a lot.
We watched Stranger Things and got a bit far in Season 4. When his friends got home, they played online together, which gave me a chance to write the blog and cook dinner.
I planned on using the bok choy for a Filipino dish with ground pork, but we didn’t have ground pork. We did have ground beef, so I decided to cook one of his favorites, the Tropical-style beef. For the bok choy, I made it into a hawker-style oyster sauce and garlic drizzled cook.
After dinner, we had a bit of drama as Vino didn’t want to finish one of his medicines. No one likes the taste of medicine, but kids’ meds are given somewhat acceptable flavors. Vino was complaining about his tummy, but I knew he was just in a hurry so he could get back in the call with his friends.
He tried to negotiate with Che so that he wouldn’t have to finish his medicine, but Che also wanted him to drink it. After a while, he stopped crying and just downed the medicine.
There wasn’t much that happened this day, really. But I’m glad that Vino’s fever had gone down, and tomorrow should be just a precaution for him to fully recover.
