We had a pretty busy Sunday that was spent mostly outside.
Vino got up at 7am, which meant I also had to get up early. Che also got up, so we had a pretty early start to the day.
You’d think we will be able to do a lot, but actually, it only meant we could start a new K-Drama we could binge. The choice for today was The Manipulated in Disney+.
We had tickets to watch Zootopia 2 in the afternoon, so we thought it would be best to go to church early, have lunch, then watch the movie. However, because we had a relatively early breakfast in the morning, Che and Vino were both hungry by mass time. We decided to just eat first and have mass after the movie.
Che wanted Thai, but Vino was asking for steak again. We thought steak was okay because we technically didn’t have any the night before.
During this time, Che and I told Vino our favorite food spots growing up. For me, we would usually have Luk Yuen in Greenhills after Saturday mass in San Juan. Both my parents worked, but my mom went to the office on Saturdays.
We would meet her at my cousins’ place in San Juan and we would go to mass. If we’re not playing with cousins, my parents would take us to Greenhills.
For Che, she said Japanese food was her comfort food. Coming from a big family, they didn’t really go out much to eat together. It was when she went out with friends that she had a chance to eat out.
We’re hoping to build memories with Vino with family gatherings like these.
After lunch, we walked around to pass the time, because the movie was at 2:15pm. The movie was nice, but at some point, I fell asleep, with both Che and Vino making fun of me for sleeping. However, towards the end of the movie, Vino also fell asleep. We had to wake him up because we had to leave the cinema.
We had about an hour left for the next mass, so we decided to hang around and wait for it instead of heading home. Besides, chances are, Vino won’t continue sleeping when we get back home.
Since he doesn’t go to a Catholic school, Vino isn’t really as exposed to the Catholic values and teachings as Che and I were. However, I don’t think it helps that the priests who celebrate mass here in Singapore are far from inspiring.
It’s like if Vino told me he’s choosing a different religion, I wouldn’t stop him. At this point, while I believe in the Catholic teachings, I’m just not happy with the messengers and how they’re sharing it.
After hearing mass, we went home and ordered delivery food for Vino while Che and I continued watching our new K-Drama. The plot is very intriguing, and how they cut the episodes make you want to watch more.
We adjourned around 10pm and asked Vino to sleep so that we can finish our episode before calling it a night.
A bit of a typical Sunday, except we were away from home for most of it. I wasn’t able to take pictures, but at least we got to spend a lot of time together.
