It’s a bit late, but we were able to celebrate the kinda annual PZ birthday bash.
Steph arrived in Singapore a few months before I did back in 2015. She bunked with Che and Issa before they moved to a bigger space a few weeks before I came.
In that house, Steph and Issa occupied a room together, which they dubbed the PZ. Coincidentally, they share close birthdays, so they would send out invitations to the housemates when they were celebrating it.
We’ve moved to different houses since then, and the celebrations were not as annual as they used to be.
We were not here to celebrate their actual birthdays, but we were at least able to get together this weekend.
When I first moved to Singapore, they were my soft landing for the new life I was entering. I was leaving my whole life in the Philippines to follow Che in Singapore. I never planned on leaving the country, so a move to Singapore was not in my Bingo card when I was building a life for myself.
I was venturing into the unknown, so it was nice to have some familiar people with us in the first house that we lived in together as a couple.
Now, we’re on different life stages and catching up on how it’s going. We get to learn from each other as we all go through our own challenges as adults.
After lunch, we set off on our own errands and planned on maybe meeting up after. Vino and I went to Toys R’Us for some window shopping.
When he was a kid, he would always try to come home with a toy of some sort anytime we dropped by a toy store. There are even times when he doesn’t really need a toy, but he just has to come out with something.
I guess he’s done with that phase of his life already, which is good. Now, we go to toy stores to play with available samples and just give life to toys like we give life to displays in museums.
Che was able to check out a couple of shops, one outside the mall we were in, and we were still in the toy store looking for things to do.
When we met up again, we had a snack at our favorite croissant place in Paragon, Avenue on 3. I taught Vino a magic trick, but he still can’t quite pull it off just yet.
For some reason, Che and I felt sleepy this late afternoon, so we decided to just go home and rest early. We had a relatively early dinner and called it a night around 10pm.
It was a pretty chill way to end the week to get us ready for another one.
