The basketball season is coming up, with all my fantasy leagues starting to reactivate for the year.
I checked the history and saw that I joined my first league in 2011. I’ve joined a lot of leagues since then, but I’ve only won a championship once. I’ve always been confident about my basketball knowledge, but considering the fact that I always end up near the bottom or out of playoff contention, I think knowing more becomes a weakness for me.
Watching teams, reading reports, and looking at numbers, I tend to value players differently. There are times that I’d overvalue a player because of potential and would get burned if the potential is not actualized.
I have three active leagues, with one of the leauges I’m still not sure if they’re going to renew. I thought I needed to refresh my stock knowledge about the NBA especially now that I’m checking out NFL games as well.
Vino had CCA this day so I was supposed to have a bit more time at home. But I remembered it’s football, and I thought he might find it difficult to play with his glasses and his shoes. I decided to go to his school early to bring him his football stuff.
Before going there, I dropped by Holland Village to check out the uniform shop. They finally had some uniforms available, so I got a couple for Vino before heading off to drop off his football gear.
It was cloudy with rain coming, so they went to the indoor gym, which meant he wouldn’t need much of the things I brought for him. I had an hour to burn, as expected, so I brought take out sushi for myself.
I got into some fantasy talks with Kali whiile trying to do my own mock drafts. I hate doing mocks because strategies differ from league to league. Doing mocks give me a false sense of hope that players I like would still be available.
However, I haven’t been watching the NBA all that much lately, so I guess I need to do things I haven’t done before in the spirit of research.
It’s been a pain to watch regular season NBA games. I have league pass, so I can watch any game I want at any time, but it’s frustrating to watch players brick threes left and right and think it’s a good idea on a fastbreak. There’s not a lot of strategy going on now, just a lot of pass and kicks or spot up threes.
But I guess I love the game too much to give up watching it entirely.
Vino and I went home after his CCA, and I plopped down the sofa waiting for what he wanted to do. He went on to call his friends. Later, he asked me to play with one of his friends, and when I asked him to take a bath, he said he was hungry.
I told him to take a bath first, then eat right after. When he went out, he was already talking to one of his friends again, which irked me.
I have no issues with him talking with his friends while playing, but if it already interferes with things he needs to do, then it has to stop. He forgot his hunger because he wants to play. At this point, it’s an addiction already.
While we were eating dinner, I laid down a few rules for his tablet usage. He’s an only child, so most of the time, he’d find solace in playing by himself on the tablet and I feel that’s alright. But now that it’s too much, I have to be firm about it.
He agreed to my terms, and he started quickly by letting go of his tablet for the rest of the night. We sat on the sofa to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.
Che had dinner with office people, so it was just the two of us. I told Vino that he shouldn’t wait for Che anymore so he can get more sleep. He typically sleeps at around 11pm, but I as part of the new rules, I said he should be down by 10pm or earlier.
We watched some short videos from Disney, and when it was time, I told him he should be sleeping already. It took about five minutes for him to fall asleep, much shorter than the time I try to pry him off the bed when waking him up.
Che arrived late, but had a good time catching up with old friends. We played some background shows on the TV until we all fell asleep.
Slow day, but I got to do some stuff for my hobby and had a dad moment, so it was a fruitful housedad day.
