Got a lot of time to rest the previous day, and thankfully, I’m back on my feet again.

Che got in the room pretty late the night before doing work and some cleaning, so she slept in a bit while I prepared Vino’s breakfast and lunch.

I was feeling better than I did the day before and I wasn’t feeling any ill-effects from the stomach virus. I guess the medicines worked well.

After I got back from taking Vino to school, I folded some clothes and organized some things at home because I can move again. I had my appetite back, and thought about gukbap.

When watching Korean period dramas, gukbap is one of the dishes that the common people would eat for a hearty meal or a hangover cure. I wasn’t sure if I could already eat spicy food, so instead of instant Korean ramen, I went out to get gukbap near Vino’s school.

Hoodadak in One-North has been there for a while, and it’s a good place to eat Korean food beyond the grilled samgyup and stuff. I went there with Issa once before when I didn’t know much about Korean food yet, and I found myself going here for a couple of times now because of gukbap and seollongtang.

They served a lot of banchan before, but I guess they’ve been looking at the best selling ones and serve those now.

Gukbap is not for everyone, but it’s very versatile. It doesn’t taste as rich as bulalo or sinigang, but it is in your discretion to add spice with gojuchang or saltiness with fermented shrimp. Personally, I don’t add much of those and just dunk my rice in to make it some kind of soupy congee dish.

After I finished my meal, I stopped by the coffee shop nearby to visit a friend. I saw him manning the shop when it was busy and it was a bit more free when I went out. I had a cup of tea and sat down to catch up while waiting for Vino’s dismissal.

Vino asked to play a bit before heading home, and even asked if I could play with them. I declined because I didn’t have shoes on, and I said I may not be fully recovered yet.

I said this because while I feel like I’m feeling better in the sense that I don’t have diarrhea anymore, my problem now is that I can’t poop anymore. I regularly go, so this is quite new for me. I stopped drinking the meds already and hoping to get back to normal.

When we got back home, there were a few things I had to do so I asked Vino to help me out before he took a bath.

I then got things ready for dinner. I needed to cook the kailan that I wasn’t able to cook last weekend, so I thought of something dry. I marinated the pork to make some kind of pinoy barbecue dish.

I got it ready close to 8pm, and Vino said he wanted to wait for Che before eating. When Che was on her way, I told Vino to start already because it takes a while for him to eat. Che joined us and actually finished before Vino.

We were watching Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings now. Vino was on the sofa watching while Che went to the room to be in a call. I washed the dishes and saw that Vino already was already sleeping on the sofa.

I decided to finish up what I had to do before taking him to bed. Che was in a couple of calls that I wish I could offer more help to, but all I could do is hold her hand and give her a hug. The thing with challenges is they don’t come one by one, sometimes they blindside you with more from places you don’t expect.

She had to work still, so she asked me to just go get some sleep. I wanted to wait for her a bit but Vino suddenly moved over to my side so I fell asleep while he rested on my arm.

It’s times like these that I’m not sure whether it’s me or him that’s not ready to be on separate beds. Sometime past midnight, Che woke me up to let me know that my head was on the other bed already and I should move.

This is when I remember how long he is already and that the time for him to move to a different bed might be soon.
