It was a Saturday well spent as we all got to do something we liked.
Che usually doesn’t have breakfast, but most of the things she likes to eat are breakfast things, like dried fish and salted eggs.
After her first full week back working in SG, I felt that it would be nice for her to have a nice breakfast with one of her favorite combos – salted eggs with tomatoes and tuyo on the side. Meanwhile, Vino had chicken nuggets.
You just know that Che is going to break out the one-foot raised eating style because of this combo. For his part, Vino was just super excited about a playdate, so he ate quite a lot.
I liked Che’s combo as well, but I had onions for my salted eggs and tomatoes. I almost feared that I didn’t cook enough rice, but it all worked out.
Vino has a new constant in school these days, and they have been calling each other via Facetime while playing games. Dude came by once, and his parents invited Vino over to come play sometime.
Dude’s mom asked if we were ok to let him come by to play this day, and we thought it should be fine, as it could allow us to have a date.
We dropped off Vino at his friend’s house and we got to talk to the parents a little bit. I’m still kind of worried about Vino on playdates, but they said they were used to dealing with kids constantly, so it was fine.
Che and I dropped by a furniture store to check out some sofas. She has been thinking about changing our sofa, so we’re trying to experience some of the options in the market to see if it’s worth doing.
Next, we headed off to The Shoppes at Marina Bay. It’s our go-to mall for a stroll, and she said she was looking into two items in particular. We went to both shops and she saw what she wanted.
As always, I was consulted about the purchases, and while I usually ask the standard “can we afford it?” question, I skipped it today because she deserves it. If I had the money, I’d buy it for her.
If you followed the blog, you’d know how much Che has been through over the past three months. Sure, she had some breaks here and there, but this was her first real moment to relax and do something for herself.
We rushed home because she had a home-serviced nail appointment. We usually go to nail salons in the mall, but since there was a home-service from the same company that cleans our house, she decided to give it a go.
We haven’t had lunch yet, so we had some Korean snacks delivered – fish cake soup, tteokbokki, and gimbap. All those with K-Drama on the background made for a very nice afternoon.
After the episode, I snuck in about an hour to make the blog. Vino was dropped off by his friend and his friend’s dad, so I just went down to catch them instead of having them park and go all the way up to us.
Che’s nail session got done and we had a few minutes to clean up before Steph and James came by.
We saw each other last week, but this was our first chance to have an intimate family dinner together. They brought wine and had some pizza delivered, while Che heated up the lasagna.
Che shared her experiences in the PH role and what’s been going on at least for her first week in the SG office. We also touched on offering opinions on the recent events in the crapshow that was Philippine politics.
It was a good thing that I just went to Lucky Plaza for some snacks, because Steph was coming. But in a happy bit of surprise, it was James who asked to open a pack of Ding Dong. Usually, he would make fun of Steph for ransacking our pantry, so him being the first to ask was a refreshing moment.
It almost felt like the final piece of the puzzle to truly make James a part of our family.
Vino came out to play Grow a Garden with Che, but I noticed that it was almost 12 midnight and he had a game early next day.
James and Steph were also tired, so we decided to call it a night. We got a lot done, so I’m thankful that we had a day like this.
