I call Thursdays “Ter’s Days” because it’s usually a day I can do something I like even on a random whim.

After our usual morning tug-of-war out of bed and breakfast routines, I took Vino to school and walked over to see the lost and found bin to see if his hat was there. It was not.

I said goodbye, and he went off. Last term, he would usually still look back to say goodbye. There’s less of that this year, which I attribute to him focusing on kicking his ball while he walks. But on this day, he met a friend as he was going up.

It was bound to end at some point, I guess it’s starting now.

I decided to take the bus to visit a friend’s recommendation. He said that he was supplying coffee and pastries to this newly opened shop at Tanjong Pagar and asked me to give it a five-star review on Google. I told him I’d prefer to eat there first before I give a review.

I had noodles, iced chocolate, and a dessert. The noodles were nice, and I felt was good value for money. The iced chocolate was not too sweet, and the dessert was fine, though I would have preferred if they gave me a plastic knife instead of a plastic spoon together with the fork.

My friend wasn’t there, but I let him know I dropped by after I left.

I went to Lucky Plaza for some Pinoy goodies. While almost everything can be bought online these days, I opted to just come by to see what else I might like.

I really wanted to buy salted eggs because I saw Che brought home some dried fish, and I know she loves eating that with salted eggs with tomatoes on the side. With a not-so-busy weekend coming up, I decided to buy some for her breakfast.

Of course, going to Lucky Plaza will almost always lead to buying more things than you intended.

On the way home, I kept thinking about the kangkong that I had in the fridge and what I should cook with it. I knew I wanted to do adobong kangkong, but that meant I had to cook something dry to go with it.

I planned to pick up Vino a bit later, but since the football session was unclear for me, I decided to just come by the usual time so that I could be there if there was no football session.

When I got there, he was already on the pitch with a lot of other kids, so I figured I would just watch from the sidelines since I was already there.

While watching their game, I noticed they had an excellent striker who had good moves and scored a lot of goals for them. I later learned that it was Freddie, our neighbor from our previous home here in SG.

After their session, one of the coaches approached me to tell me that they have been interested in getting Vino on their team since last year. Watching him with all his improvements now, the coach was just even more convinced that they want him in their team.

I got a bit excited that Vino is being scouted for a team, but it’s all going to be up to him. And maybe how much training costs in this team. They train closer to our house, so Che and I feel like it might be a good opportunity for him.

I asked Vino to come with me to buy some ingredients in the supermarket, but I was leaning towards cooking a version of sisig for dinner.

On our way home, Vino was knocked out inside the car.

At this point, I was reminded by Che that he had dinner with some Pinoy colleagues. But when I said I was planning to cook sisig, she asked if I could bring it over instead.

I saw this sisig recipe using minced pork. Che had her reservations, but I read enough recipes that made me confident that I can crisp up the meat and pass it off as sisig.

Knowing I was going to make more than enough for us, I decided to prep some to send over to them.

I thought that I was just going to send it via Grab, but when she extended the invitation to me and Vino, I thought a parcel delivery and a ride to the place costs just about the same, so it might be better if Vino and I just go and meet her colleagues.

We ate together and shared stories, and even discovered a rather interesting content creator that was talked up to us by one of her friends.

Tolets, who looks like a typical drinking buddy who’s on a trip in Laguna, does videos for duets. He sings the male parts and leaves space for presumably female singers.

It’s like having a singing buddy who never gets tired.

We had a few drinks while Vino found himself on the balcony just chilling and singing to some of his favorite songs.

I do want to sit with the adults, and share stories, but as it was getting late, I decided to just come out and chill with Vino.

We left a bit late, with Vino asking for some food when we got home. I didn’t want him to have noodles because I was planning on sending him noodles for lunch. He had a few bites of mamon before we asked him to try and sleep already.

It wasn’t planned, but it turned out to be an activity-filled Thursday.
