It was a game of balls this day, as I had fantasy football, Vino had football, and I had basketball.
Vino woke up relatively early, and we were actually quick in preparing for school. My guy even had the urge to fix up his hair by himself.
Unfortunately, we arrived late for school. It was difficult to book a ride, and we got about four cancellations and waited about 20 minutes to get a ride.
Last school year, I’d just send him up no matter what time we arrived. However, last time we arrived at this time, the teacher asked Vino for a blue slip which could be acquired from reception.
So we passed by reception to get it before I sent him off to class.
Back home, I did some housekeeping and finally unpacked our bag. After doing that and writing the blog, my fantasy football league chat was busy sending links to mock drafts. As someone who doesn’t really know a lot about American football, I didn’t really want to go through the mocks so that they wouldn’t know my tendencies.
But I felt like it was time for me to get a feel for it at least.
It took maybe close to half an hour to do it with about 4 other people and a bunch of autopicks. According to draft analysis reports, I had a below-average team. I forgot what grade I had last season, but I struck gold with at least one elite player per position.
I won the league in my rookie season with not much football knowledge. I’m sure it’s not going to be the same this year, so I aim to be competitive and get a feel for actual draft day.
I picked up Vino and we chilled a bit at home before going for football training.
There weren’t a lot of parents this time around, but there were quite a bit of kids. I caught up on Good Boy, which Che already finished.
As per usual, I was watching the kids do their drills as well. One of the drills was one-on-one pairings, which turned a bit physical. A lot of the kids fell to the ground, I feel like some of them got hurt a bit, but none of them got angry at each other.
It was different, but in a good way. Vino tripped and I think he cried a bit. The one paired with him is not too skilled yet, and he kept jumping on Vino’s heel to get the ball.
Two years ago me would have jumped up and threw a ball on that boy’s face, but he’s in a team setting now, and I wanted him to stand up for himself. He told the coach what happened, and I saw that the kid was told not to do what he was doing.
I told Vino later on that the most dangerous players on the court, whether basketball or football, are the ones who don’t know how to play. So he should just watch out and protect himself when paired up with kids like that.
After about 30 minutes of their drills, I went on to shoot some hoops.
I’m not going to pretend that I’m doing this to become a better basketball player. At 39, who I am is who I am already in basketball. I know what I can contribute, it’s a matter of being more comfortable in my spots so I can be more consistent.
Plus, there’s a certain kind of peace shooting by myself while listening to a podcast or my playlist. It’s almost therapeutic, like writing my thoughts on a blog.
I ordered food delivery for dinner as Vino requested.
My guy didn’t fail me, as he ate a lot of the food. I put some away for his lunch.
It’s good that we also ordered it, because I wanted to remember the taste as well before I tried to do my version again.
A lot of people already like my version of soy garlic chicken, but I’m always in a constant state of learning when it comes to cooking. Even my perfected recipes can have improvements.
We watched Thor: Dark World as it was the next part of our Marvel journey. We are already in Phase Two of the MCU. We chilled on the sofa for a bit; I had the time because I didn’t have to wash dishes and it was an easy cleanup.
Near 10pm, I told him we should move to the room so he can get ready to sleep. I went to the toilet and had a shower.
By the time I went out, he was out cold as well. I knew he was tired and sleepy especially while he was extra clingy on the sofa.
I watched what I can from Good Boy, but was also too sleepy to finish the whole thing.
It was uneventful, but a really tiring day for both of us, after all.
