Saturday called for a celebration after a long week that ended with some good news.
We’re waiting to finalize this news that we recieved, so for now, it’s just a quiet celebration between the three of us.
As per usual on a Saturday morning, I didn’t set an alarm, but if I woke up early enough, I was going to play basketball. I got up a little past 6am, and proceeded to get a move on. I had my stuff ready the night before, so all I had to do was fill up a water bottle, pick up my bag, and bring out my bike.
For the first time in almost three years, my bike was finally on the road again. It rode well after it was tuned, and I didn’t feel too much pressure on my knees even going uphill.
Unfortunately, I arrived as the 12th guy on the court, which meant I was going to play in the second game.
I don’t get bored despite the long wait in the morning. Usually, I would get to talk and catch up to old and new friends while watching a fun game among friends. By the time I was up to play, there were 9 new players, so one of the guys had to play another game.
Midway through the game, a new guy came in, which meant there was going to be a third game. It’s an unwritten gentleman’s agreement between us that if there are new players, we would try to make it so that they would get to play a game, at least.
I ended up playing two games, which was a good burn for the morning.
I rode my bike with one of the guys who lived along the way to our house. I learned that he was heading home for good next week, so I took it as a chance to talk and have what could be our last conversation here for a while.
I got home to have breakfast and prepare to head out. Che was looking to check out something around Orchard, so we went there first. After she was done, we headed out to Marina Bay to have our special occasion lunch.
One of the waiters in the restaurant was a Filipino, and he’s always been attentive to us whenever we dine there. When Che mentioned basketball, we both had a realization that we actually know each other, as we played in the same circles. We were just together last weekend, so it quickly dawned on me who he was.
After a nice meal, we went to have a massage that we’ve wanted for weeks. While it was relaxing for us, Vino felt uneasy after it, and was just lethargic.
When we came home, he went straight to the sofa and tried to sleep it off. For us, we welcomed Lia as she brought some goodies from Imon and Ella sent over from the US.
We had some wine, cheese, meats, and oysters as we caught up with tons of stories about life and what’s she’s been up to these past couple of weeks in Singapore. I regularly see her runs and bike routes on her stories, which are a couple of things that I’ve been interested in lately.
We shared tips and learnings, and we’re planning to do maybe 10k in the annual Singapore run at the end of the year.
Meanwhile, we figured Vino had indigestion from getting the massage after eating. He was just not moving on the sofa and didn’t want to eat. At some point, he asked to spit something out, but it came out as a full-blown vomit. He felt a little bit better after that, but still didn’t have much energy.
He ultimately fell asleep on the sofa, while the adults continued talking and drinking.
It was a good, full day, where we got a lot done. We were busy throughout that I missed a day of the blog, but I could always catch up by doubling up the next day. I can’t feel bad about missing a day of the blog with all the fun we had today.
