I’ve been consistent in my running and walking, but I feel like I’ve hit a bit of a wall in this fitness journey.
It’s too early, I think because it’s been maybe a month and a half and yet I’m saying this already. I still get up and do what I need to do, but I just feel like I’m not as productive as I was when I first started.
When I go home, I fall to doomscrolling again, which I wasn’t doing early on. I was writing my blog before I picked up Vino, and I was able to follow through on my calistenics on a daily basis.
I don’t know what changed.
Maybe I got a little too confident that my weight was coming down well, but I’m stuck at 83-84kgs now. I had curry chicken when I got my shoes, which I probably shouldn’t yet. There are days I’m just lying down on bed again not doing anything productive.
It feels like a slump that I have to get out of, and if I do, I’ll probably be able to continue doing it.
Since I had a good run/walk session the day before, this day was supposed to be for recovery. However, it was Vino’s first training day back since he injured his foot, so I knew I could do something while waiting for him.
Initially, I wanted to play basketball as my “easy” day, but one of the dads usually ran around the track, so I figured I’d run with him instead. It also looked like it could rain, so it was better to run than to play basketball on a wet court.
Nicky told me that the proper way to run was at a “talking” pace, which meant I could still talk while running. I needed to understand how to pace myself, but obviously, I’m not talking to anyone while I ran. So this was a good way to try it.
The dad was always game for talks about anything. On this day, we talked about the war in Iran while we ran. He didn’t go that fast, so I walked to warm myself up before I started jogging with him.
I got a good sense of the speed I need to run at so that I wouldn’t tire easily. We had a good 20 minute run, and he led me to do some cooldown exercises.
Meanwhile, Vino had a good training session on his first game back. In the scrimmage, he played goalkeeper and a little on the field. He’s said that he wants to play on the field as well from time to time, so he was given a chance to. He even scored a goal, which he was really proud of.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to record it. Still, he was happy about it, and I’m lucky to have been there to watch it happen.
When we got home, I prepared dinner for him and proceeded to do a session of calisthenics. I felt that I needed to move and just continue pushing myself to get myself out of this mini-slump.
I need to get my head wired right, especially with a trip coming up next week, or else all the work I’ve done so far would be for nothing.
