Saturday was a fun-filled activity for all of us from the moment we woke up.
I went to my usual Saturday morning game fully confident that I would get to play in the first game. I woke up at around 6am and got to the bus early. I didn’t even have to wait for the next bus as it arrived one minute after I got to the second bus stop.
By 6:30am, I reached the court. I started counting the people there, and they told me that I’m the 12th guy to arrive. That meant I would be playing in the second game.
It’s still dark out, and we’re sensible enough to respect the residents. As such, we wait for the sun to come out around 7:30am before we start bouncing balls and playing.
Unlike the game I played last week where I hit four threes, I didn’t hit anything this time around. My teammates set me up, I got good looks, but my shots just didn’t fall. I lost a game and a half (one guy split a game with me), but it was all good fun.
There weren’t a lot of us this morning, so the guys asked everyone else to have breakfast at the hawker center. But, Che said she wanted to check out the coffee shop near our place, so we decided to meet there.
I found this coffee shop near our place a couple of weeks back when I ran around the neighborhood and told her she should experience freshly-poured coffee from the place.
We had a bit of a quiet time at the shop, got some nice coffee and breakfast before heading back home.
Vino had a playdate this day, so I got him ready and took him to his friend’s house. His friend stayed with us last time around, so the mom said it’s their turn to host Vino at their place. It feels good to know that Vino is welcome at his friends’ houses, not just for the fact that Che and I could get some free time, but because it shows that they genuinely like him around.
Che and I met at Orchard for lunch, which was a good catch up for us because she had another busy week. We walked around Orchard for a little bit, but ultimately ended up at Marina Bay.
We had early dinner with the Pinoy contingent, so we were supposed to pick up Vino. However, his friend’s mom said she will drop Vino off to where we were going because she will have dinner with her son around the same area.
We met up with the Pinoy contingent at Holland Village, where we ordered up a storm as the stories kept coming. They all work within the same industry, and while the PH scene is a bit more noisy, it’s not as fun here because they’re working with people of different nationalities. Jokes just have more impact to Filipinos when it’s in Tagalog.
And of course, having known each other for a long time, we could make fun of each other like no one else in our circles could.
We usually make it a point to meet up during holidays, but we skipped a few already due to scheduling conflicts. So this was a very much needed catch up session for all of us.
We looked for dessert afterwards, so we walked over to the other side. We had some ice cream as we talked even more, but the kids were getting tired, so we decided to say goodbye there.
I think this was the most I’ve eaten in a day since I started my new fitness journey. I think I could have probably eaten a lot more before, but eating three full meals with dessert this day was a bit new for me.
I probably gained more weight than I lost from my morning basketball game, but I think it was definitely worth it.
