It was a weekend spent doing mostly adult things because Vino had a playdate, and we made the most out of it.

Vino had been bugging us to set up a playdate that he and his friends have agreed on. The mom of one of his friends agreed to host them from 1pm to 6pm, which was a good chunk of time for Che and I to spend together.

Unlike previous weekends, I wasn’t able to play basketball because not a lot of guys signed up to play for the morning. There was heavy rain the night before, so the court would presumably be wet and tough to play in.

Instead, I was able to put a run in. I went around our neighborhood and looped to our old neighborhood in Depot Road. I think I am a little bit better than 30 seconds of alternating runs and walks, but I don’t think I could do 5 minutes of straight running just yet.

Maybe a few more weeks of this, and I’ll get used to it.

Before heading home, I saw a boutique coffee shop near our place and asked Che if she wanted some. A group of bikers stopped over, so the order took a while before I got mine.

At home, I prepared lunch and cleaned up afterwards before we went out. Vino’s friends were jumping up and down while waiting for us drop him off, so it looked like he was in for a good time.

Meanwhile, we headed off to Tanglin Salvation Army to drop off some of our items for donation. It was the result of our clearing operations in our closets and storage room.

Unfortunately, that venue was apparently closed already. We decided to split up, so I could go drop off the boxes at a different venue while Che went to MBS, the third stop of our Grab ride.

I had a very chatty uncle who took me to Pasir Panjang and MBS, so the ride was not dull at all. I wasn’t able to sleep, though.

Che and I were able to walk around freely without a little boy complaining about the long walks. At some point, we found ourselves having a quick snack date ata a Japanese restaurant, Sen.

It’s always good to catch up with her about the things going on in our lives that we don’t usually get to talk about because of daily fatigue or our daily routines.

When it was time, we picked up Vino and headed back home. Some friends from Che’s work were set to come by to our place after they walked around Labrador Park.

I prepared some miso-glazed salmon and some veggies for them, but they offered to buy lechon from a newly-opened stall in Vivo. We had wine and plenty of talk, while Vino spent time on calls with friends in our room.

At some point, Vino asked me to play with him and a friend, but he surprisingly admitted that he was sleepy not long after. I stayed with him until he slept before going back to the adults’ table.

We exchanged a lot of stories and got to know each other a little better today because of it. I always enjoy talking to friends who are very pleasant to be with. Stories just flow, and nothing was too personal. It was as comfortable as talking to family.

We talked well into the night before they had to leave. Che and I cleaned up a bit, but agreed to clean up properly tomorrow.

While I do love being with Vino, there are times like these when it’s nice to just spend time with adults, for a change.
