For the first time in our lives, we went to a concert that neither Che nor I chose for ourselves.

Vino has an interestingly wide variety of musical tastes. I made him his own playlist on Spotify so that he can choose the music he wants to listen to. When you see it, you will find music from Roblox, some old country songs, Disney music, and alternative rock.

One of his favorites is OneRepublic. So when we learned that they were going to have a concert here, we excitedly booked so he could watch them live. It was our Christmas gift for him.

He was very excited when he learned about it, and the day was finally here.

Truth be told, he hasn’t really heard all of their songs. However, he acknowledges that they are one of his favorite bands because he enjoys the songs he discovered from them.

Our first concert together as a family was Seventeen, and Vino knew about two or three songs. He was excited when he heard those songs, but he was down when he wasn’t familiar with what they were playing.

This time around, he intently listened to the intros to figure out if he knew the songs, and sang with them if he did. For the songs he didn’t know, he would just sit there to listen.

He lit up for Apologize, Run, Sunshine, and I Ain’t Worried.

At some point during the concert, he was tired already, which was understandable because he had a full day of class and football CCA.

He was almost sleepy, but he was still waiting for his favorite, Counting Stars.

Of course, he jumped up and danced when they finally did. After another song, the concert ended, and we rushed to beat the people traffic. The people caught up to us, though, as he stopped to ask his mom to buy merch.

For his nightly prayer, he said he was thankful for having attended the “best concert ever,” which was all that we could ask for. We wished that he would have the time of his life, and knowing he thoroughly enjoyed it made it really fulfilling.
