On a free and healthy weekend for us, we had big plans to start cleaning up some clutter in the house.
Vino had a playdate with one of his good friends in school, and his friend’s mom graciously offered to take care of Vino for the day. She said I can drop Vino off from 9am onwards, and I said it really depends on what time he wakes up.
We got moving a little before 9am, but we took our time as we were enjoying the final episodes of Stranger Things season 4. I took Vino to his friend’s house sometime past 10am.
Meanwhile, Che was fixing her things because she decided to let go of a few bags that “didn’t spark joy” for her anymore.
Buying some luxury items have been somewhat of a stress reliever for Che over the years. While one could argue that she could spend it better elsewhere, I’d say you can’t really put a price on happiness. Besides, the things that she bought could still be sold for a good value later on, while the things that make me happy are things that I can’t really sell eventually.
Since realizing this, I have supported her when she buys things. This day was another proof that she can still get good value from her things when she doesn’t need them anymore.
She was able to sell two things at Komehyo, a popular Japanese second-hand luxury brand shop. She said there was an expert who certified the authenticity of the items before making an offer. She sold two of the three things she brought. She had a better offer for her bag in Carousell compared to Komehyo, so she decided to try her luck talking to the interested party.
Meanwhile, we went to our go-to cafe at Paragon, Avenue on 3, where we had lunch. Service has always been excellent in this cafe, it’s just a bonus that some of the staff recognize us as regulars.
We checked out something nearby as we waited for the Carousell buyer to reply. The person said that they would be in Orchard at around 3:15pm, and we decided we could maybe wait for her.
We walked around and crossed over to check out some furniture. We were thinking about replacing our sofa, but it should really be worth it. There were a couple of models from Castlery that we wanted to see for ourselves.
It’s still up in the air, because our sofa right now is still really good. I want to sell it for a good value first, but if we can’t do that, it might not be a good idea to just throw it away.
After our Castlery adventure, we still had about an hour to burn. We checked out how our year is going to be, according to the Chinese calendar.
Tigers have a good outlook, while Rabbits (Che) not so much. I guess as partners, we balance out our fortunes.
We walked a bit more and explored Takashimaya. I was looking at pressure cookers, but I said I want to still think about it more. The sale will be until March, so I have a bit of time.
What we did end up buying were these ridiculously large wine glasses. We’ve always found those big-ass glasses in restaurants to be fancy, so we thought if Takashimaya had a sale, maybe it was a good time to buy one.
After we got our wine glasses, Che managed to sell her bag to a nice lady. Selling via Carousell can be frustrating sometimes, but there are times like these when we meet nice people who will really enjoy their purchase.
We take really good care of our things, so it’s nice to know that our pre-loved items would go to people who would really love them.
We went back home to start cleaning the house as planned. It was a tough undertaking, but Che’s a warrior in these kinds of things, especially if she wants to get things done.
For dinner, I said I wanted to get naughty by choosing something that we wouldn’t order if Vino were with us. We got laksa and curry chicken from Janggut Laksa, which just felt right.
Whether I eat it at the venue or for takeout, I would always drown my rice in the curry.
Since we started cleaning around 4pm already, there was still a lot to do. After dinner and midway through cleaning, I had to pick up Vino from his friend’s house.
His friend’s parents are always fun to talk to, so we spent a bit of time chatting before we left. Our Grab driver got lost, so we had to wait longer than we had to.
When we got home, we did a little bit more cleaning and organizing. I was tasked with rebuilding the Hot Wheels tracks so we could sell them off. I managed to finish all but one before we retreated to the room for the night.
We’ll have more things to clean up tomorrow, so hopefully, we have the energy to finish everything that we took out so that the house won’t be too much of a mess.
