Since it’s just Vino and me at home, I took the opportunity to utilize my free time in the morning.

My aunt asked me to buy something off Carousell. Strangely, I couldn’t find the item if I searched for it on my app. Luckily, the link she sent me worked, and I was able to talk to the seller.

The seller was from Tampines, which is close to where my sister stayed when she was still here in Singapore. It takes about an hour to get there from Vino’s school.

I don’t remember much from my sister’s neighborhood, but it looked quite busy for me now. Not in terms of people, but with the infrastructure around the train station.

She moved to several apartments during her time here, but every time I visited her, she was around this train station.

It was still quite a long walk to get to the seller’s place, but I welcomed the physical activity.

I wanted to try and explore food places around the area, but ultimately decided to just take the train going home.

When it was time to pick up Vino, I decided to leave a bit early so that I could eat lunch at the hawker stall near his school. I wanted some curry, but decided I needed something quick, so I got chicken rice.

I picked up Vino and reported to Che so that she knows we’re fine.

Vino and I agreed that I’d still cook dinner and that he would help me to do it. When we got home, I asked him for help to do the laundry and prepare our dinner.

I did pork steak for us. Vino likes salty things, adobo being one of his favorites. But this pork steak is a close second for him. It’s a fairly simple dish, so I let him help me prepare it.

He wanted to cut the meat, so I let him. I feel like the kids these days don’t have motor skills as good as we did when we were younger, but I wanted him to try it. It’s nerve-wracking watching him do it himself, but I had to let him do some to let him gain a bit of confidence.

I also let him mix the marinade for more participation in this dish.

I told him we needed to marinate the meat for about 30 minutes, and by then, his interest to cook has dwindled. I don’t want to force him, since I didn’t care about cooking at his age. Yet here I am, enjoying this process of constant learning. And eating.

We watched Stranger Things together, and my guy had a lot of the food. It’s more than the usual rice I serve him for dinner, but he almost finished it, which was a win for me.

We went to bed early, and watched Mr Beast features on Amazon Prime. I know he’s tired from the day, but he refuses to sleep early. We didn’t get to call Che because I let my phone go when she did, but at least Vino was asleep before 11pm.

I’ve always been torn about him sleeping in the same bed and getting his own space. Sometimes, I feel like it would be nice to sleep with just Che, but I’ve been so used to having Vino sleep beside me that I think I will have separation anxiety when the time comes that he will have his own space.

One thing I know for sure, he will always be welcome to snuggle no matter how old he gets.
