For the first time in the new year, we were able to align our schedules so that we could have dinner together with our family in Singapore.
It’s been quite a week, but we had pre-planned a couple of things this day, so we’re not going to be completely idle.
We took our time getting up, with Vino already heading over to the living room to talk to his friends online. I got some chicken nuggets from the freezer for his breakfast. Meanwhile, I continued my Swagger marathon while Che was still in bed.
I started watching Swagger sometime after the pandemic, I think. During its first season, that was the timeline they worked on as well. They went to games in masks and dealt with the effects of the pandemic in their personal and athletic lives. I liked it then, but didn’t realize that there was a second season out already.
It’s not groundbreaking, I think, but it depicted very real concerns of student athletes in modern times.
In my head, I’ve been thinking that the birthday Vino was going to was at 2:30pm. I realized late that it was 2pm, and we haven’t had lunch yet at past 1pm. We were a bit late to the party, but it was close enough for us to reach it quickly.
I opted to go back home since there were no other parents around. It was pretty close to the house, so I walked to the bus stop and got on the bus that went straight home.
Che was sleeping on the sofa, so I did the blog and a quick graphic request. I initially wanted to commission a friend, but it was a really small project that I could theoretically make with the help of AI tools and whatnot.
I’ve been against AI in writing, but I use it anywhere else I can – from answering simple questions to cleaning up photos, it’s been great for me.
Che woke up as I was about to leave to pick Vino up. We were going to have dinner at Raffles Place, so I told Vino we could go straight there and look for a gift for his friend’s birthday party tomorrow.
My guy’s a bit choosy with the gift he’s going to give, but we found a gift at the bookstore with about an hour to spare. We walked around a bit but ultimately decided to just sit on one of the benches to pass the time.
I finished writing the blog and played Brawl Stars with Vino before our reservation time. We then went to get our table and get some food.
Clove has a good selection of food, and this time, they had an Indonesian Food theme. I let Vino choose his food before I went off on my own.
Steph and James arrived, then Issa, JR, and Pable came before Che arrived to complete our party. We caught up a bit and enjoyed the selection of food. I felt the need to eat a bit more because Vino only had one full plate.
We started our Singapore lives together, and while we’re in different stages of our lives, I’ve always appreciated that we could still spend time with each other from time to time.
We ate and rested for about two hours, and by the time we were done, some of us were sleepy already. We adjourned and went our separate ways.
At home, Che was knocked out in bed while I finished with my projects for the day. When I got to the room, I asked Vino to sleep already as it was almost midnight. I was still a bit full, so I finished Swagger and played a couple of word games I learned from Steph and Issa.
Swagger had closure, so I don’t think I’ll be waiting for another season of it. It was a good little story, and it’s good that they got their messages across without trying to stretch it out as some kind of money-grabbing project.
Maybe we’ll get back to watching Stranger Things tomorrow and beyond.
