It was kind of a well-being day this Friday as we all got some exercise going.
Che took the day off because she wasn’t feeling well. She’s been pretty down the past couple of days, but I guess adrenaline kept her going through the motions. She needed the Friday off, though, to somewhat recharge.
Vino woke up super early, maybe about five minutes after I got up. He had to wait for breakfast as I needed to prepare it.
As a result, we got to school earlier than usual, and there wasn’t much of a traffic jam going in. A few weeks ago, I learned that I can still see Vino from where I stand when he reaches his class floor. I waited to take a snap of him waving back.
I got home and fell to the bed first, while Che slept in the living room. She didn’t set meetings this day and even cancelled going to an event in the evening. I tried to convince her to come join us when Vino goes to football practice in the afternoon.
She hasn’t gotten much physical activities lately, so I thought it might help lift her spirits up after these tiring few weeks for her.
With a free morning, we decided to start a new series to watch. We had plenty of options, but after a very stressful one in The Manipulated, we wanted something light. We decided on eXchange.
It’s a Korean reality TV show where they put exes together in a house to either rekindle their old flame or meet new people. We watched the first season, but didn’t really follow the series all that much. It’s in season four now, and we decided to watch this one since there’s no need to have watched all the other seasons.
She got hungry early because we didn’t have breakfast, so we had an early lunch of instant Korean ramen. I loaded it up with some Spam, eggs, and some spring onions.
Later, she stayed back as I picked Vino up from school. I told Vino that Che might come with us to football practice later.
It’s not usual for Che to watch Vino practice, because cabs are usually super expensive during that time. Besides, there’s really not much for her to do when we’re watching, that’s why I usually play basketball while waiting.
Additionally, I talk to other parents who are willing to talk – something Che wouldn’t normally do if she were in my place.
There was no point going to the practice field early, as the guard wouldn’t let us in before 5:40pm, so we usually just stay back until such time that we’d arrive at 6pm.
During this wait, Che was trying to back out of coming with us, suggesting she’d just clean out the closet instead. But Vino insisted that she come so that she can watch him play, so she got up to get ready.
It was drizzling a bit, but we jogged for a bit around the court while Vino was training. After about 20 minutes of running, she wanted to rest. I wanted to run more, but I was having difficulty running on the wet pavement because I was worried I might slip and fall.
There were some dry spots on the court, so I thought I could still shoot a little bit. She joined me for some shooting drills until it was a bit too dark for me to enjoy shooting.
We went to watch Vino play. Surprisingly, he was blocking a lot of shots during practice, and Che was really impressed. I said it was just today, but there’s no doubt that he’s improved a lot since he started with the team.
Later, they played with the under-10 kids, where Vino was the goalkeeper for his team. He conceded some goals, but coach recognized how quickly he responded to instructions and tips.
There was a bit of an unfortunate accident, where an attacking player’s knee hit Vino’s thigh. It looked pretty painful, and he had to sit out for a few minutes. He was a warrior though, as he got back out there to finish the game.
After training, we saw a super moon peeking between buildings.
The pictures don’t do it justice, but it was an amazing sight in person. We went home to have dinner, with Vino having ramen delivery while Che prepared some cheese and pita bread for us. We popped a bottle of wine open, but it was a bit too strong for her.
We went back to the room before midnight, with both of us agreeing to clean up next day. Vino, for his part, was still wide awake and playing on his tablet – or so we thought.
He jumped to his usual space on our bed, and said he’d stay there for a while before moving to his own bed. I opened my Portal to play a little bit, and he asked what I was playing. Not two minutes from when he asked, I suddenly felt that he was sleeping already.
Dude’s really tired and sleepy, but just didn’t want to admit it. We’ll have some visitors over tomorrow, so it’ll be good to get some rest so we can start preparing early.
