It was a typical Wednesday with not much going on for the day.
The day started really early because we were in school by 8:10am. It’s not our usual arrival time in school, but at least he got more time to play in the morning.
When I went back home, I still had time to grab an iced Milo from the hawker stall. I think I’m lactose intolerant, but whenever I feel bloated, I get myself some spicy food and Milo.
While walking back home, I was behind someone walking their corgi.
I’m always amused watching a corgi walk. I love pets, but I don’t like having a pet. I like how they give comfort and how they cute they are when they play with you. What I don’t like is being responsible for their well-being.
I often joke to Vino that he’s practically my pet. I feed him, play with him, and take him anywhere I go. It’s just that he has a more expensive school and a very expensive taste in food.
Once I got home, I took out the leftover meat from the night before to make lechon paksiw. It’s always a challenge to think about what food to cook. I want to make a variety of it so we don’t get sick of a particular dish. If you ask Vino, he could have adobo for days, but I’m not risking him getting tired of it. Another thing to consider is that it should be something that Vino can bring for lunch next day.
Lechon paksiw is something that we haven’t had in a while precisely because it’s usually leftover lechon – which we also haven’t had in a while.
Vino will have football training in the afternoon, so I thought it would be best to have it prepared so that Che will just need to heat it up when she gets home.
I picked up Vino from school and played a bit of Roblox when we got home. Later, we went to football training, where there were only three of them who made it. Most of the local schools are on school break, so some of his teammates were already on vacation. The others just weren’t able to make it this day.
I was watching the UST-UP Final Four game, where UST needed a win to have one more game on Saturday. The sun was going down already and the game wasn’t finished yet. I decided to just play with the game in the background.
While shooting, one of the dads stood up to shoot hoops with me. No words were exchanged, just a look, a pass of the ball, and we were suddenly playing together. This, I think, has always been the beauty of sports. I’ve met random people through basketball, but I have also been able to enjoy playing it by myself.
I can’t push Vino to play the games that I play, because this was a passion that was ignited in me. For him, it was football, and all I could do is support him in this passion. It’s still a sport, and I’ve also met people with the little knowledge I have of it, including the dads of his teammates.
After training, we went home to eat dinner. Che already ate, as she was hungry while we were still out. We had Vino sleep early because he was tired from school and he started the day early. Meanwhile, we watched the finale episodes of The Manipulated.
It’s nice to have a nice, clean series where it’s been captivating and ended with very few loose ends. The ending didn’t feel rushed, but there was a lot of blood that Che didn’t care for.
Right before we slept, we did our Spotify Wrapped to check out our year in music. My top podcast, as I expected, was The Koolpals. However, I got a video message from my other favorite, Bago Matulog With Red Ollero.
Spotify Wrapped has been a fun thing to check on the app, and it has been steadily evolving. While it’s fun, the level of detail it shows also feels a bit scary already. I mean, it’s accurate, but maybe a little too accurate? You get a sense that the app is analyzing your every listen.
It probably won’t stop me from listening on Spotify, but it doesn’t negate the fact that it’s a bit creepy.
