It’s goalkeeper training day today, but it’s not the only football game that consumed my day today.
Imon roped me into a fantasy football league last season. It’s American football, which I don’t really get to watch. I relied on data I read and stuff he shared with me.
I unexpectedly went all the way to the finals and won it. As a result, I need to be part of the second season, which is now in its third week. This time around, I’m in two leagues with mostly the same players, but the second league features some experimental scoring.
My main team is struggling to get points with underperforming players, but I got back to .500 after a win this week.
My other team has been mostly dominant, but absorbed my first loss this week.
The Baltimore Ravens are one of the top-rated defenses in fantasy at the start of the season, but last week, they gave me negative points. That one didn’t matter much because I scored enough to take the win. This week, I lost by about three points, the exact number that the Ravens got negative points for. If they scored zero fantasy points, I would have won the matchup.
Watching the scores had consumed my mornings when there were games going on. I don’t have a lot of player movements precisely because I don’t know much about them, but there’s quite a bit of excitement when checking out the live update of the fantasy points.
I was doing this as I dropped Vino off in school. On my way home, I dropped by Buona Vista because I had to put back the powerbank I rented the night before. Since it was out of the way, I decided to just take a different route going home.
I ended up in Alexandra, as I checked out the shops at the nearby hawker center. While walking around, I found a lottery outlet. Che and I were talking about testing our luck, maybe, but she didn’t give me numbers.
I tried my luck last week but didn’t win anything, so when she didn’t give me numbers, I decided to just go home.
It was time to pick up Vino. I was a bit late because I procrastinated again, but I came just in time to pick him up. He was waiting with a couple of friends and asked if he could still play for a bit.
I couldn’t deny him then because the two other kids waited for him. I sat with the boys’ aunties and waited for them to finish playing. When it was time to go home, we had one extra boy with us.
He said his brother took his bag and EZ Link card, so he had no way to go home. The boy was Vino’s classmate last year, so I knew his mom. I offered to take him home, but one of the aunties lent him a card so he could go home by himself.
Vino keeps insisting that he can go home by himself, saying even one of his classmates is doing so already. It’s actually quite safe here in SG to try it out, but I want to see him be more aware of his surroundings first before I let him do it.
We went home and got ready for goalkeeper training. I cleaned up a bit so that Che wouldn’t have to worry about the mess in the kitchen if she got home first. My dad also called, so we left the house a bit later than usual.
We got there a bit late, but it was a good session. Vino was asked to practice his dives, and he looks to be getting better at it.
As we made our way home, Che said that she was still in the office. So we’d get home before she does.
Vino and I talked while we were in the car, and as we alighted, the Grab driver couldn’t help but share his amusement listening to Vino through the whole trip.
I asked Vino to take a bath while I cooked dinner. I thought Che would arrive while we were eating, but we finished our food and I was getting ready to wash the dishes when she came.
She asked us to eat, but I told her that we had just finished. After she ate, she thought about making a cheesecake.
She already bought ingredients for it, and wanted to do it last week, but didn’t have the time. It’s not that she had more time now, but I guess she still had a bit of energy left. When Vino saw her doing something, he asked if he could help.
Any help is welcome, of course. But it was getting kinda late already. Vino was not able to see how it turned out, as it was almost 11pm and he needed to sleep.
Che went in shortly after, and we started watching a new series that we missed before – A Good Day To Be A Dog. She needed to wait for the cheesecake to cool down so she could put it in the fridge.
I thought I could watch the whole thing, but my eyes failed me. I was in and out of consciousness as we watched, and we later just decided to call it a night.
Looking forward to another adventure next day, as I have a couple of things planned out.
