Our Saturday was filled with weekend things for all of us.
My basketball group usually has a game on Saturday mornings, depending on the weather. Personally, I don’t set my alarm to play, it’s more of a “if I play, I play” kind of thing. Usually they start at 7am, but for this week, they set it at around 8am.
I woke up at 7:30am and decided to move quick so I could join the game. By the time I reached, I was set for the second game already.
I’ve been shooting during Vino’s training sessions, so I felt like I had a pretty good feel for shooting despite having not played for a while. Unfortunately, it didn’t translate to actual game shooting.
The ball felt off, but I guess I just got used to the one I use. I couldn’t get a three to go in, but I did get a couple of baskets from under the basket. I got one game in, so at least I got something physical done for the week, which is a huge improvement from how I started it.
I went home to get ready, as we planned to have lunch outside. We went to Kuroki at Paragon, which we chanced upon a few weeks back. We walked around for a bit before dropping off Che at Tiong Bahru while Vino and I went home.
We had ingredients for kare-kare at home, which Che got from Redmart last weekend. We’ve intended to cook it all week but never had the chance to. I started the process while Che was out.
I haven’t cooked this one yet, so I was preparing blind. Che told me to saute onions and garlic together with the beef, then boil it in the pressure cooker.
When Che got back, she continued the process until it finished. During this time, Issa asked when they could drop by for some things. We thought it would be a good idea for them to come by while we had kare-kare so that there wouldn’t be a lot of leftovers.
She said she was preparing some sausages and rosti, and we told her to just bring them over for the kids.
Che finished up the kare-kare just in time for them to arrive. We were able to catch up for a bit with them. Portions this big are best shared among friends.
Meanwhile, Vino went off to talk to his friends on the tablet while Pablo checked out Vino’s cars.
Issa is at the stage where she’s looking for particular cars for Pablo, a phase that I went through back then. Now that Pablo is enjoying cars and Vino is no longer playing with them as much, we thought Pablo would enjoy taking home one of Vino’s tracks.
Vino’s relatively brand new bike two years ago appears to be just about Pablo’s size also. We tried to get Vino to learn how to ride it, but we left for Vietnam a few months after we got it. When we came back, Vino is already too big for it.
He grows so quick, even his wardrobe got a much-needed update on his birthday. Soon, his clothes will be too mature for his closet, but that’s an issue we’d worry about in the future.
We’re watching Eternals now, but we asked Vino to sleep so that he can get up for a league game tomorrow.
I indulged a lot with food this day, but at least I got to sweat it out in the morning. I’ll try to build on this momentum by Monday, but for the meantime, I’ll let the weekend be a weekend.
