We set off for a playdate for Vino today, and some drinks for me.

Josec, a college buddy of mine, and I have been talking about us dropping by in their place for some drinks and barbecue while the kids played. Che was still feeling under the weather, but said we should go so that she can focus on work.

We left around afternoon, hoping to reach there around 3pm when Ethan, his elder kid, is home from school. The first order of business was Beyblades.

Josec and his kids play Beyblade tournaments here in the PH. They started with small competitions and went on to compete in bigger ones. Through their journey, they have won multiple beys, with the kids learning much about how to set their own.

They follow the footsteps of their dad, who usually gets almost obsessed about how things work. He’s done it with Mobile Legends and with Jurrasic World before, and now he’s pouring it all on Beyblade, with both his sons enjoying it with him.

Meanwhile, we set ourselves up in the garage to drink, eat, and catch up on life. We talked about how things are with him, parenting, and many more. I even wrote on my notes for fear of forgetting things because we were drinking.

Ethan and Alon fought countless times during the time we were there. Meanwhile, Josec shared that for most of his challenges in life, he would still turn to his parents as an only child.

We got to talking about having multiple kids. Che and I have talked about having another kid, but I’ve always said that the risks far outweigh the positives. I wanted to ask his thoughts about growing up as an only child.

He said while he didn’t have siblings, he treated most of his friends as brothers, so he never truly felt alone. I’m hoping that Vino grows to have this kind of mindset, because it’s one of the things that Che has been worried about with Vino.

We went home around 9:30pm to find Che still working on the dining table. During this time, I learned that Ryan, one of Christian’s friends, was celebrating his birthday at Velada. During this race season, Christian has turned away from drinking on random days to stay in shape.

With both him and Kali at Velada celebrating with Ryan, I thought I could follow for a couple more drinks, despite it being 11pm already.

This was not recieved well by Che. Our chat was probably the most that she’s ever talked to me during our stay here.

I understand it’s stupid to go out at 11pm, but I thought I’d have a couple of drinks while they were off to bed already. Che didn’t see it that way, especially because she was still feeling sick.

Still, I was in my Grab, trying to justify what I did but at the same time couldn’t possibly ask the driver to turn back. I felt like I don’t ask for much, and even with this trip, there was not much to do anyway. I want to understand how Che is feeling, but at this point, I just hated that she waited for me to be in the car and halfway to the venue before offering her honest thoughts.

I arrived at Velada to greet Ryan and catch up with the conversation Christian and Kali were having. They had a friend, James, who was also offering his thoughts to Christian. Apparently, Christian had a bit of a squabble with his brother, Charles, and they were trying to offer their perspectives as the youngest kids in their respective families.

Later, James shared more of his experiences about his own older brother when we had the chance to sit together while Christian went around the room.

It’s a side of having siblings that I didn’t want Vino to deal with. I’m thankful that I never had those adult squabbles with my brother and sister, but hearing them share their stories made me feel a bit at ease knowing that Vino wouldn’t have to deal with it later on.

I was advised thatw Ryan’s parties go all the way until the morning, and while I didn’t have to go to work, I never planned on staying that late. I went there fully knowing Kali needed to go to work the next day, and he’d leave around 1 or 2am, which was just nice for me as I’m already loaded from the trip to Josec’s place.

I went home and had a shower, and would probably have to deal with the wrath of Che the next day.

I’ll let future me deal with that as I went to bed.
