You never had a karaoke party until you’ve had a karaoke party with the Marcaida sisters.

Our Sunday was pretty much free, so we decided to visit Che’s mom in Antipolo. It’s the first time this week that we’re going to see her, so having no plans on this day was a good chance.

I got up early because my body clock dictated that I get up already at 7AM. Before we slept, I told Che that I wanted to exercise a bit if I woke up early. It’s been almost a week since I sweat from a workout, and I’ve been eating a lot since coming to the PH.

The treadmills were occupied, so I decided to give the stationary bike a go. I didn’t want to go hard and risk injury, so I got about 30 minutes in and went to cool down a bit. I saw a boxing contraption and tried to mess with it a bit. It hurt my hands if I punch too hard, but I kinda miss the feeling of throwing punches.

When I got back, I was able to take a bath, write the blog, and still had time to make breakfast for Che and Vino. We ordered delivery food to bring to Antipolo and left as soon as those arrived.

Also at home in Antipolo was Kuya Manny, who has been with their family for so long, he’s practically a part of it. Back when I was courting Che, there were times that I hung out with him in the garage.

He had a habit of making up names for everyone, especially those who dared to court any of the girls. It was a code name of sorts for when he talked about us with Che’s dad and brother. He had interesting name ideas. For context, he once named their dog Sprikitik.

I learned that he dubbed me Sputnik. As for the reason why, only he knows. Sprikitik certainly never found out.

Anyway, he has stayed with Che’s dad in Masbate for over a decade now, and we barely saw him anymore. Unfortunately, he had a major stroke recently and the province hospital couldn’t accommodate his case.

He went back to Manila for treatment, and he’s now staying in Antipolo as he recovers. He’s progressing well, we think. From not being able to move or talk, he can walk a bit now (assisted), fist bump us as a greeting, and even mumble a bit of sounds.

This is one of the rare times that all the Marcaida sisters are complete. Kathreen has been in Korea and Canada over the past few years, while Che has been in Singapore. Kathreen is transitioning from Canada back to Korea, so she has a bit of time to stay here.

And what do they do when they are together? Karaoke.

Every happy occasion I attended in their household since I met them had karaoke present. It didn’t matter how many people were there, the sisters were gonna be in the living room where the microphone was.
Now that they’re not living together, every get together becomes a happy occasion. This random Sunday became one of those.

Those were already fun, crazy, happy time when they couldn’t drink yet, so imagine how wild the fun was now that alcohol is involved.

They put a song on and passed the mic every segment. While waiting for their turn, the others danced like background dancers on a generic videoke machine. All of them hit the notes that they needed while doing these.

We may be noisy, but we make sure that the noise we make is at least tolerable.

I was playing Mobile Legends with my brother-in-law so I wasn’t able to take a lot of videos or photos, but I saw that they had a lot. There were some performances that would better illustrate just how crazy these karaoke sessions got, but they would probably kill me if it was shared on any kind of social media.

Sometimes it gets too fun that we forget how fast we’re drinking already.

Che needs to work the next day, so she said we should leave by 9PM. She went up to take a nap for a bit, and when I told the girls and the guys, they gave me a bit of a disappointed look.

They know that Che needed to go to work the next day, but we were still having so much fun that they wanted it to be a bit later.

Of course, not all of us lasted through the whole night.

Honestly, the plan was we leave at around 4PM, but I told Che “let’s see” because I had doubts that we could leave that early.

At around 9:30PM, Che said we should say goodbye. We also had to drop off Christian’s jacket on the way to my mom’s house to drop a couple of our bags, including Vino’s party favors the sisters packed before the karaoke party.

Tia is still on her school break, so Ten let her come with us so she can spend time with Vino.

On our way back, the kids said they wanted to eat something. Instead of a drive-thru, Che suggested pancit canton, which everyone agreed to have.

After they ate, everyone got ready for bed. I stayed on the sofa to give the kids and Che proper space. Contrary to popular belief, it’s never uncomfortable on any sofa.

Growing up hanging out with cousins and friends, I’ve always had to make myself comfortable wherever I slept over. I guess all that time “training” is paying off.
