Vino’s school year is almost ending, which means I won’t have a lot of alone time for the next month or so.

It’s not that I don’t have enough of it, it’s just that there are things that I’d rather not do while we’re together. One of which is getting a haircut.

Vino again took his time getting up from bed today, so I got him a quick and easy breakfast – peanut butter and bread. He wanted to try the variant that had a chocolate swirl, so I had him try one with it and one with the original one.

Unsurprisingly, he said it didn’t really taste all that different.

This was a dress-up day as they were going to have their class party. I committed for us to bring juices, so I was going to bring him to class to help him carry it.

Vino chose his own clothes. The night before, he said he was going to wear his party clothes. He opened his closet and wasn’t satisfied with his shirt collection. He wanted something more “fancy” as he called it.

After I dropped him off in school, I decided to ride the bus all the way and wait for the 11AM shop opening all the way in Funan.

I got this package in a newly-opened salon there last year, which locked me in for five haircut sessions with them. For the first two visits, I was just not happy with how they cut my hair.

Before James and Steph’s wedding, I got my haircut in a different place and liked it a lot. With my hair having grown three months already, I didn’t want to waste all that time growing my hair only to get half-assed by the salon I got a package with.

But since it was paid for and practically free compared to 50-something dollars for the nice salon, I decided to give it another shot. I wanted a shorter cut this time around, so I thought it would be easier for them to pull off.

Honestly, I liked the look of the cut while it was about 85% done but I wanted to see how he was going to finish it. In the end, I’d say it’s the best he’s done for my hair over three visits.

I’m planning on finishing my package and just move on to the nice salon in Vivo. It was only about 12 noon, so there was still plenty of time to burn. I wasn’t planning on eating lunch, but I passed by a Japanese curry shop that was being advertised as one of the best in Japan, so of course I would try it.

For the second straight day, I was eating curry again. A different one, but curry nonetheless. A bit on the expensive side, I guess, but this is my luxury.

Che has her clothes and bags, Vino has his random “can we get this?” things, I have food. If the food looks nice, I try to find how I can best maximize the value of it.

The shop had a regular tonkatsu curry, but this one was a mille-fuille pork. It had cheese in it, I guess kinda like cordon bleu, but using pork.

The meal came with salad and a drink, and they gave this side dish of sad sliced pickles and fried onions.

It was nice overall, not too spicy, just the right savory, and while the sauce looks like it’s a lot, it’s just right for the amount of rice they gave me.

I had to pick up Vino at 3PM, so there was still more time to burn. I rode the bus and stopped over at Buona Vista. I had this gift card for Starbucks from when we did our health screening, so I decided to use that while passing the time.

I don’t really drink coffee, but I can always have iced chocolate. I finished my blog as I waited for the time I could pick Vino up.

When I got to Vino, he was surprised by the hair and joked “are you my dad?”

As I was keeping my earbuds, I realized I lost R2D2 – the case for my earbuds. I know it must have been at the curry shop because that’s the only place I took it out from.

So after a little bit of playing in the field, I called Vino and told him to come with me back to Funan. He slept through the bus ride, and good thing it was only one long ride.

I picked up the thing from the curry shop, and Vino asked if we could go around to “look at stuff.” He would usually just ask to go home, so this was a refreshing invite from him.

He wasn’t looking for any particular thing, he just wanted to go around. We stopped at random shops, but I took it as a chance to look for a game for my cousin.

During our walk, he was telling me all about his day, and how he got 100 in karaoke while singing Counting Stars. He proudly said he even did the “no-look” to party with his classmates.

I am now starting to believe that walking is his way to share his stories. He knows that he would be distracted by his tablet at home so being forced without it allows him to talk freely about anything.

I wanted to cook dinner when we got home, but we got home a bit late already and I needed time to thaw the frozen things in the fridge. Besides, since I already ate heavy lunch, I wasn’t going to eat dinner anyway. So, Ippudo it was once again.

Since there weren’t a lot of things to wash after dinner, we got to the room in time for watching a movie he was interested in watching. We saw this K-Pop Demon Hunters on Netflix and he said he wanted to see it the night before.

Che had dinner with former colleagues, so she called to check on us late. I told her we’d just finish the movie and call it a night.

Vino has two more days of class before vacation officially starts, so the hope is he keeps up his energy for the next couple of days.
