A regular Wednesday of football training had a different vibe thanks to the dads in attendance.

Everything went as per usual, and with Che away, I had a breakfast shot of Vino to let her know that we’re moving for school already.

Whenever I pick Vino up from school, we would take a bit of time before we actually go. He would ask to eat his snacks, or talk to his friends, or read a book he borrowed, or play in the playground.

As a result, we’d get home more than an hour later because of the bus timings.

This day, we were quick and lucky. I got him as soon as they came down from class, and with everyone leaving quick as well, he had no reason to hang around.

He did walk with one of his friends as we went to the bus stop. They were whispering like there was something important going on.

Anyway, our bus arrived as soon as we reached the bus stop. We had to transfer to another bus, and as luck would have it, it arrived as soon as we reached that stop.

It was about a 35-minute journey, which is a bit faster than my trip going to his school.

We had some time, so I was able to do some chores at home and prep dinner. I cooked our food about 85% of the way, and I planned to finish when we got back home.

Over at football practice, I sat with the dads as we watched our kids go. I haven’t really asked for their names, as I’m content to call them (insert child’s name)’s dad for the duration of our time together.

One of the dads said he wanted to jog, and he saw another dad with a football. He suggested to play, and invited me and another dad over.

We became a spectacle for our kids as we passed the ball around. I was supposed to have a basketball game that night, so I was happy to get some work done at least.

We started with ground passes then later moved on to dribbling off a bounce. Those dads could do three touches before passing it off, but I was happy enough to just pass it in the air to the next guy.

I didn’t get to hone my football skills, but as I keep telling Vino, you just have to know how to play enough to connect to other people through sports.

Later, we played a little monkey-in-the-middle type of game, which was a tough but fun game.

I wasn’t able to get a photo of our game, it turned competitive real quick with all the bounces. The passes got stronger as we went on.

Two of the dads went jogging while the other dad and I talked a bit.

Then, it was time for the kids to play their usual game. There were a lot of them today, so they got to play 4v5 with goalkeepers for each team.

Vino conceded a lot of goals and he looked a bit frustrated at some point. But he kept his cool and was able to play through it.

They were down 5-1 by the half, then the coach switched things up so that he would be playing with the 5 guys.

By the end of it, they finished 6-4, with Vino scoring some good saves.

When we got back home, I asked Vino to take a bath while I finished cooking.

After cleaning up and everything, we went to bed while watching the Kuroko movie. I thought he’d just fall asleep at some point but he kept watching.

He asked to change the show so that he can watch it tomorrow.

I had a weird neck cramp that’s almost like a stiff neck but not quite. I wanted to deal with it before I went to sleep, but all it led to was the Doritos bag.

Che caught me on CCTV getting my bag at 12 midnight.

She will be happy to know that I left some chipd for her when she comes back tomorrow.
